TobyTravis
...I hate how when staying there you have so much pressure on you to join the thieves guild, you get approached by a guy forcing you to have the initiation quest in your journal, most people you talk to talk about the guild and most quests are too.As a proud and honorable Nord, I hate being associates with thieves but I find the rift so beautiful, such a shame. BarefootWarrior
yep, same here. I'm playing an Imperial, but none the less I'd rather not have to join the Thieves Guild. I'll just leave it for now, might come back to it later.

Lokiron
Chaotic in a good way? I'd say. I've been looking for a way to root out the guild, get rid of corruption and that Maven character. But to no avail.

Completely with you. The Rift is the best looking area of Skyrim and has an annoying hold. Edited November 27, 2011 by csgators
TobyTravis
Any way to #ahem, "remove" Brynjolf before he can give you the quest?

Any way to #ahem, "remove" Brynjolf before he can give you the quest?its not Brynjolf who gives you the initiation quest to seek out brynjolf to join the thieving guild. its the guy who is leaning into a pole near the entrance to Riften when you get there the first time. not sure if he always stay there if you dont talk to him. Besides, I dont see the problem ? Why so you guys have to do all the quests in the list? the misc quest list especially becomes large by randomly picking up quests everywhere. If you dont want to do the quest then dont do them. How hard can it be to just ignore the quests you dont want to do and do those you want to do ????????? For me it's more about 90% of the city being scum bags.
Khorak
For me it's more about 90% of the city being scum bags. Don't ever go to Markarth then. Ever. At all. Just quit the Civil War questline for the Stormcloaks and disappear. Maybe go to Cyrodiil or Hammerfell instead. By the time you're done with Markarth you've directly or indirectly depopulated it to the point that the Hague will trial you for crimes against humanity.
