Sky Unsupported 16-BIT Application

Hi everyone. Today I tried to launch Skyrim for the first time in about a week or so and was given the error message:

The program or feature "\?\c:\program files(x86)\steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\VCRedist\vcredist_x86.exe" cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-Bit versions of Windows. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit Windows compatible version is available."

I haven't changed anything on my computer since the last time that I ran Skyrim (without any issues) and I know for sure that it is supported by Win7 64-Bit as it says so in the requirements (as well as the fact that I've played it several times already).

Can't seem to find any information on the problem on any of the forums I've been on, so hopefully someone has some light to shed on this problem.

Thanks for reading,

Harry

Haven't heard of this one before. Have you tried verifying your cache at Steam? (Go to Library, right click the game, click Properties, click Local Files, click verify your cache ,or whatever it says, haven't been online to Steam since I installed.)

I must say it is rare to find spot on replies on forums, but you did it!

Thank you very much for this reply! I had a huge mix up with my steam and had to re-download skyrim (took 10 hours with my internet speed (500/kBps)

After which I was getting the same error and wanted to cry! However your tip did the job!

Do you know why this error occurs?

Regardless tyvm again!

Respect
