Grizzle and grumble on armour

HELLO!!

This mod may have been accomplished, it may not've,but one thing about the game always annoyed.

This was that every fricken piece of iron armour looks the same. It's like in the beginning someone sed

"you know what? every piece of armour of the same type will look the same, and if they don't, i will throw bananas at the person who doesn't comply." it's understandable with imperial armour cause thats regulation army armour. But every smith in tamriel wouldn't think

"steel armour. now i must make this the same as the other 3 i made for a completley anonomous customer each time, in case they happen to bump into each other across the country, and they can identify the armour they are wearing!"

(sorry i get quite worked up)

So if u haven't gathered by now i am suggesting that variations for each arrmour picee was made (because i cant make them) to add some realism.

i like potato top pie

In my opinion i think thats a great idea, and it wouldnt be very difficult to accomplish. Really all you would have to do is unpack the (lets say iron armor), open it in 3ds max or blender, mess with the mesh just a little bit, and maybe rearrange the UV map. To me that doesn't sound very hard, but am somewhat new to meshing, I havent released a mesh yet, but I have made my own personal meshes that i use. With that said, achieving this mod is very likely.

Hello

Well thanks for the encouragement, it is greatly appreciated but i know nothing about making or even tweaking meshes and besidess i don't have the software.

I have the cs and the armour listing is incredible. would it be possible, that when you choose the mesh for a peice of armour (iron for example) it chooses randomly from a pristine version normal version or rusty version or have them completley seperate so you choose the mesh outright?

Yes it may not be difficult to make the actual changes to the armor or swords; it’s the randomizing part that I think Vagrant was talking about.

Would require many different meshes, would require having those meshes connected to individual items, would require some method of distributing those items

You want many kinds of armor all called iron armor but the game always uses the same electronic file for a particular name. You can replace stuff as much as you want; the real trick is to some how make it random while still calling it “iron armor” for instance.

The game doesn't care what name people see. It's the FormID, and to a lesser extent the EditorID, that matters.

The biggest problem, assuming that meshes are dealt with, would be compatibility with other mods. The best approach I can think of is to have someone or something that can exchange a piece of the new armor for the original that other mods would look for.

Yea, see I never even thought about compatability. But IF I did this I would not replace the original, because (correct me if I'm wrong) I always thought that Add-on mods were pretty much compatable with most things, comparing to altering and total conversion mods like OOO.
