Make armor, not your player, utilize a different skeleton.

Mod Author here looking for help to make new mods for YOU ALL :) :)

Ok... I have spent hours upon hours researching this, and all I can find is hundreds of the same question being answered hundreds of time. I am not trying to mold armor onto a custom body or make armor fit a custom body or put CBBE armor on a UPN body. No..

I am trying to make it so the armor is tied to a different skeleton, not the default skeleton.nif file. And I can find absolutely nothing on the subject. Basically, I want the armor to reference a different skeleton when equipped, not "skeleton.nif".

I want to do this without having to change my character's race. Currently, I know I can do this by making a custom race with a custom skeleton and the armor will adjust to that new skeleton.... That's easy. No, what I am trying to do is make it so the armor does not adjust automatically to my player's skeleton, but pulls from a different skeleton.nif.

Basically, I want to be a normal character, with normal vanilla armor, but when I equip this one special suit, the suit pulls from a different skeleton.nif and so when equipped, my characters proportions will change.

I know this I capable on some level, as I can take skipping female (vanilla forsworn) armor and program it to be a male armor and it will adjust my male characters body to that of the skeleton.female.nif file. (I put the forsworn female armor on a male character). So in some way, armor is tied to specific skeletons, but for the life of me, I cannot find the connection.

*Reminder, I do not want to make a custom race. I am trying to make mods with bulky kick ass armor that will work with any person, despite what custom body mods they are using, because this armor will use a standalone skeleton.nif (Named something like skeletonXL.nif, for example).

Any ideas people?

**New Note

The most frustrating part is I know the armor is tied to specific skeletons in some way. When I place skimpy vanilla female forsworn armor on my male character, my skeleton changes to that of a female, so I know it's possible to make the armor react to a skeleton other than yours. But I can't seem to find the link between the "skeleton.nif" and the specific armor mesh. It's starting to seem as if armor is connected to Race and that I have to make a custom race with a custom skeleton in order to achieve this.... which ruins everything. I know I could solve all this easily by making a custom race... but no, I want the players to be able to stay their Race.

I want to be able to make a suit of armor that is not pulling its skeleton file from the player's NPC, that way, no matter what "body mod" they are using, the armor will adjust to the stand alone skeleton. In simple terms, this would allow something like with the proportions of a Mech Suit. Your silly bimbo warrior named "Candy" can equip the suit, then all of the sudden, she is a walking juggernaut. *Note: I am not building a mech suit, something else. Maybe a mystical Mech suit golem later in the future, but currently working on bulky armor that needs a certain skeletal proportions. And yes, I know about in-game editors and sliders, but I am trying to make this armor specific. Additionally, the in-game editors would change the characters default proportions.... something I do not want to do to you all. And it wouldn't even matter, because the "in-game" edits are not files I can share.

I have no idea, so am just trying to think out of the box... If you play as a character that changes into a werewolf or vampire Lord, etc. does the game automatically switch to a different skeleton? If so, then maybe you could duplicate something similar so that when the armor is equipped, it automatically switches skeletons? Depending on what you are trying to do, it may still mean creating a new race/skeleton to match your armor sets, but it might be the workaround you're looking for. Just throwing that out there, as I have zero experience messing with skeletons, or otherwise I would have my mini-dragons that do more that sit in one place.

@ToppDog: Yes, I have looked at that avenue. But that's not what people want. I already know the backlash I would receive. I could make it so you "transform" into the lich king. But that would change all of your abilities and everything else. The players stats and abilities would be limited on to whatever the transformed "Lick King" has. In essence, a race change.

@ToppDog: Yes, you are right, when you change into a werewolf or vampire lord, your skeleton does change... But that won't work for what I am doing. However thank you so much for you input. Appreciate the effort!
