Dew4rd
Hi, I'm just about to re-install Fallout 4 after a long break. I didn't install any mods previously. My question is with setting up my game for mods, do I need the script extender installed for most mods or will it say on the specific Nexus Mod page that the script extender is required? My plan is: 1) Clear all of the Fallout 4 .ini files left over from last time2) Re-install Fallout 43) Start a new game4) In Vault 101 when I know the game is working, exit the game and do the following: Navigate to your Fallout 4 Folder at the following location "Documents/My Games/Fallout 4" Within this folder you'll find a number of .ini files. Open (or create, if missing) Fallout4Custom.ini Add the following lines to your Fallout4Custom.ini [Archive] bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 sResourceDataDirsFinal= Save and close Fallout4Custom.ini 5) Install Nexus Mod Manager6) Download and run some mods! Would appreciate your thoughts Thanks
Rabbit1251
Read your mod's description pages. The authors will tell you if that mod requires the Script Extender. The Rabbit
Dew4rd
Okay thanks, I've got one problem though, this message keeps popping up after I download a mod in NMM: File C:\Games\Nexus Mod Manager\Fallout 4\Mods\"mods name" already exists. The old file can be replaced, or the new file can be named "....." Do you want to overwrite the old file? I have definitely not downloaded it before as I have only just installed NMM. RS13
It shouldn't hurt to replace it. It's odd that you'd be getting that warning though. Navigate to C:\Games\Nexus Mod Manager\Fallout 4\Mods and see what else is there. Also, re: F4SE, I'd recommend you go ahead and install it as you will need it eventually. Having it and not needing it won't hurt anything.
Dew4rd
Okay thanks. One other question, do I need to put "bEnableFileSelection=1" in to my Fallout4Pref.ini file? Some sites/mods say yes but others don't.
