xghostchant
Sorry, I'm not sure if this is the correct location for this. I've got Blockhead.dll installed in my OBSE\plugins; however I can't get character overhaul to work. I've tried with all of my other mods disabled, and it seems that no matter what I do, it still insists that Blockhead is not installed. Any ideas? (Using NMM & OBMM, as well as manually; Oblivion GOTY edition) Edited August 22, 2016 by xghostchant
Surilindur
Are you launching the game in a way that sees also OBSE loaded? If OBSE is not loaded with the game, then none of the OBSE plugins will work, and Blockhead will not work, either. If you use a disc version, use the obse_loader.exe to launch the game. If you have Steam version, OBSE should be loaded when you launch the game from Steam - assuming you have it installed correctly. There should be plenty of videos and stuff on how to install OBSE, but you should always install it manually (which you have probably done). I use the latest version + the updated loader from the official page, and it works just fine with both the Steam version and the disc version (I used the 5th Anniversary Edition before switching over to the Steam version): http://obse.silverlock.org/ Also, when you click the "The Nexus Forums" text at the upper left corner, it should take you to the front page of the forums or such. There should be a "Nexus Site Forums" section when scrolling down, containing a link that has the same text. That will take you to the game forums list. Oblivion should be pretty hight up in the list, and clicking the link should take you here: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/forum/131-oblivion/ Hopefully that helps a little.
xghostchant
Yep - everything else is working perfectly, including OBSE (launching the game using OBSE). The only thing that doesn't work is Blockhead, oddly. I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it; I even cleared all my cached user data and reinstalled Oblivion from scratch. For completeness sake, I even disabled all of my mods and re-enabled them one by one, using no mods/any mods it still insists Blockhead is not installed :\ Edited August 22, 2016 by xghostchant
Surilindur
Now that sounds odd. How did you test if OBSE is loaded? Just curious. Opening the console, selecting an NPC and using SetRefEssential 1usually helps - if it throws an error, then OBSE is probably not loaded properly. Another thing to check might be whether your saves folder is getting the OBSE savefiles in addition to the normal ones, like: ...Saves\SomeSave.ess ...Saves\SomeSave.obseBlockhead not working sounds odd. Have you tried right-clicking the obse_loader.exe and ticking the "run as administrator" checkbox, to make it run as administrator? Maybe that would help. xghostchant
No errors setting NPCs as essential; got the OBSE saves too; it launches as admin as is, but I thought I'd recht click > run as admin just in case, still no bueno  In the end it's no biggie; the default faces are fine, they're just dated and kind of weird. Surilindur
Maybe someone could move this thread to the Oblivion Mod Troubleshooting section. You might be able to get more help there. So you have also tried manually copying the dll to ...Oblivion\Data\OBSE\Plugins\Blockhead.dlland it still does not work? Does the ini file get created? Blockhead.ini right next to the dll file? If it gets created, then Blockhead should at least be loaded, initialised or whatever it is called. You could also examine your obse.log and other OBSE-related logs in your game folder (the same one as the Oblivion executable) to see if it loads Blockhead, throws an error or something. Edit: Typo extermination... Edited August 22, 2016 by Contrathetix
xghostchant
That's one thing I did notice - Blockhead.ini never gets created; I've uninstalled/reinstalled it three times now and it never creates any *ini. I suppose that's what the issue is.
Surilindur
Definitely sounds like it. If Blockhead is loaded, the ini file should be created. Maybe the OBSE logs would have some info. Are you launching the game with the obse_loader.exe (and not through a mod manager)? Maybe NMM or something relocates the ini file if you are launching OBSE through it? I do not have my gaming PC here now, but if you could post the OBSE logs (in a spoiler) that might help.
here
Does Blockhead have any special requirements of its own? I cannot remember. Edit: I have never used NMM myself, so that is why I asked. Edited August 22, 2016 by Contrathetix
xghostchant
Which obse log? There's a few different; obse.log; obse_loader.log; and obse_training_fix.log; I've tried launching through OBMM, NMM, and from obse_load in \oblivion\ and still no changes
Surilindur
No idea, one of them should have some information about your OBSE plugins being registered/loaded. The one that does should at least mention Blockhead somehow. Probably obse.log, but I cannot remember. Blockhead does not seem to have any specific requirements. However, there seem to be comments about having it in some... strange path. I am running out of ideas here. If you have made sure it is in the correct path, one of the OBSE logs should mention it at least. I have other things to do for a while now, but I will check back when I have the time. This is interesting. I suppose your game is the latest version, otherwise OBSE would not even work, one would think.
