Riding a dragon

I know this would be really hard to make but wouldn't being able to ride a dragon be cool? But not just a mount Because that seems just like not enough but what if you make a quest out of it? Like you find a egg and then it hatches into a dragon you can train choose like idk it's type of attack frost or fire. It will stat off small but you like feed it thing and it gets bigger until its big enough to ride. But it won't just be a limited mount somehow it can feel like its a real character not just a boring thing. It would have to stay outside like horses but would follow you or you could ride it. But you can somehow interact with it to make it feel more alive. Maybe make a quest even further somehow. This seems like it'd be really hard to make though and take a lot of time if even possible. Any ideas?

they did that in oblivion i dont know if they want to do the same thing again you can get the oblivion mod akatosh dragon mount from tesnexus.com somewhere...

Yea, it was done. I don't think it was very well done though. For one, the dragon looked underfed and lanky. Dragons in Elder Scrolls are supposed to be sprawling masses of muscle and ferocity. I felt more of a kitten vibe from the Akatosh mount. The idea was solid and I don't mean to take anything away from the creator, but I would rather have a Skyrim dragon given the choice.

OP, I like the idea and fully endorse every aspect. The egg could have a deep background and the dragon be named by the PC. It is definitely something worth looking into when the CK comes out.

Thank you for the comment and I liked the akatosh mod too it was kinda just there sometimes though and wasn't something that I really went out of my way to use. With this mod I hope to add more depth to the dragon making it feel more alive in the game. All positive comments are appreciated.

Another Idea I thought of was that your dragon could somehow reflect you like if your in the dark brotherhood it will get red eyes or if your in the companions it will have a howl power or something like that it doesn't have to be exactly like that it can just reflect you somehow.

Well, in honesty, the easy part is making the npc and giving it the qualities of a horse, since the mounting a dragon animations are in the game already since near the end of the main quest, you ride your dragon-slave to get into soverngarde to kill Alduin.

The hard part, I would think, is to make it so the Dragon mount has the command on it that makes it be able to "fly"

Flying is probably impossible.

But Dragon NPCs do fly in this game, meaning there is probably some form of pathing navmesh for them in the air.

So it would probably be possible to ride a Dragon to a predetermined destination.

Like u tell it to go somewhere through dialog or by clicking on a spot in the map.

Ofcourse this could be done by a simple fast travel mechanic, but methinks the idea of actually flying on a Dragon to be much cooler.

I don't think it's impossible I mean it was done in oblivion and that didn't even really have dragons in it or animations for it really but still they managed to do it and skyrim has dragons in it and the animations so it most likely is possible just need to wait till the CK comes out.
