'Randomly downloaded tonnes of high res tex packs'

So is it safe to say that you've done zero research regarding if these mods are compatible with each other? Or if one of them might override the other? Or if they have dependancies?

Anyway, my advice to you would be to uninstall all of them, visit the mod page of each of these tex packs, read the descriptions/install instructions/compatabilities thoroughly, and then install them one at a time, testing to make sure that they have installed correctly, then install the next one and so on.

If you just randomly install a bunch of mods your asking for trouble.

Some things will not apply textures without changing a ini command say like the Redrocket, Certain Tree packs, The Roofs in Sanctuary they are all "Combined Objects" you need to see what each pack requires and get the ini command to make them change but turning off combined objects can lead to other issues like not being able to place things on the floors or walls in your settlements if they are the vanilla combined object buildings, AGreatWeight is correct never download a ton of mods or even install a ton of mods in one go incase you get one bad mod which means you now have to track down that bad mod out of the 10 or 20 mods you just dropped into the game always install one mod at a time test it if it works then you can add another.

Well, i'm used to modding skyrim, and it didn't need much more than just to download the tex packs. And fallout 3/ÆNW for me was impossible to get any tex mod to work at all.

Don't know why you couldn't get mods to work for FO3/NV if you could use mods in Skyrim, but everyone encounters problems modding at one point or another, even those who've been doing it for years.

You didn't say whether you were manually installing mods or using a mod manager. If you've been manually doing it, I'd urge you to use NMM as it'll decrease the possibility of problems occuring, and makes removal of mods easy. Also, use LOOT to manage your load order - thats essential when using lots of mods. Make sure you have the latest version of the mods your using - you can check this whilst in NMM. I'll add some links to forum threads that will hopefully help you work things out.

As long as you follow the simple rule of 'one at time, then test' as well as do your research it'll be easy to identify mods that cause issues, conflicts, or simply don't work. Checking the mod pages and reading the descriptions, comments sections and bug reports will possibly help you to isolate potential problems.

10 gigs of retextures installed all at once is a recipe for disaster, but its problems like this that will help you to learn. Start again, and take it slowly this time. Good luck.

I did say that. (for fallout 4) on my second post.

And i also didn't know texture mods had to support the newest patches. That makes it really hard to find tex packs that also fills most of the game and not being stuck with only a few patches ehre and there with high res ones and the older ones not being used at all.

My bad, you did indeed.

I wasn't saying that texture mods need to support the newest patches -but new game patches can unfortunately bring with them new issues- , just that it's generally a good idea with most mods to have the newest updated version available insofar as it might contain bug-fixes or tweaks that the author has added after feedback from users; you can ignore this by all means, just my suggestion.

I'm guessing with the amount of texture mods you mentioned, that your attempting a visual overhaul of the game. This link might help you -or not-
