CaptainChaos
It really angers me that Bethesda is so good about some things and SO STUPID about others. This is one of them. Night Eye is totally useless. So are torches. Did they learn from Oblivion? Absolutely not. It infuriates me how they could improve so much and not notice something so stupidly simple, especially when developing the Khajit. Gothic 3 did not have many totally black areas but when they did, you needed a torch. And that meant, your hand was busy. Someone created the most awesome darkness mod for Oblivion that was a Game saver for my thief. Really was amazing. I think they darked out every space in every dungeon, one by one (that wasn't properly lit I mean).

xxxsleepyxxx
Don't use a Graphics injector to make your dungeons darker.... it is the wrong way... It will only affect the visuals and so the AI will not be affected by the dungeon being darker and so will still find you easy as pie if you are sneaking somewhere that the game considers to be brighter. 100% agree. it being darker would make me want to sneak more out of nervousness, which is what i want, but it would be rather useless since the AI would still notice me like its daylight. but i guess i will have to settle for anything until a proper mod is made. Usually when i find myself asking WHY WHY WHY, its usually the same answer. To improve sales by making it easier and catering to the casual noob who is likely to spend more time ruining the games rep on the official forums with stuff like ZOMG WTF ITS TOO DARK I CANT SEEEEE!!! than playing the game. Its heartbreaking that so many games are dumbed down for these little turds. Since not being able to see is more noticeable than being able to see everything, they made it bright. xaliqen
Darker interiors is an optional part of the No Tint and Desaturation mod. You can use the darker interiors add-on on its own without using the no tint esm. If you combine that with the Himmelsrand shaders, interiors should be very dark indeed.
BGatot
I'm one of the folks who finds the dark areas in dungeon way too dark. It's not brightness, it's gamma. Adjusting brightness would simply make lighted/foggy areas blindingly bright and annoying. My solution was keep the brightness standard but adjust the gamma. You can adjust the gamma in skyrimprefs.ini, which is located in my document/my games folder. Make the fgamma setting lower, I use 0.8000, and everything is good again. Maybe you could try turning gamma up? Edited December 6, 2011 by BGatot
