Taedus
In Oblivion we had resist magic/elements and fire shield (etc.) but in Skyrim the only spell that protects you from magic attacks is the ward spell from restoration. It's very impractical though, since you have to channel it and can't hit anything at the same time. The only thing we have is potions or is there some other way of getting protection from magic? I really hope that when the construction set comes out, someone will make a spell to address this issue. We don't even have silence anymore, so dealing with magic users has become a matter of stunning them , to prevent them from casting. Are we playing the same game? you can still attack while using a ward spell you know? unless you dual welded ward spells, the other hand can still perform any action you want it to, be it casting a spell or swinging a sword and well there are protection spells in the alteration tree if thats what you are asking for. also enchantments to resist status effects... though i dont know why you will need them
Vatras
Ways of protecting from magic:- don't be seen and shoot them from afar *ahem*- get Dawnbreaker, but maybe you don't like shields- you can get fire, shock, frost and magic resistance by enchanting armor or making potions (with enchanting perks/aids you get a huge bonus on a single item, even 100% are possible; making a set of tools for maximum enchanting is of course a task by itself)- use various poisons to weaken mages and curtail their spellcasting (it is a pity they did not include the opposite of "fortify" in this game)
Kashou
Not to mention that the alteration tree actually gives you 30% magic resistance
Taedus
Not to mention that the alteration tree actually gives you 30% magic resistance Yes, I noticed that today and went for it straight away. Hopefully it will help against the dragons and liches :)

Hopefully it will help against the dragons and liches :) If your a caster, hit them fast and often with lighting spells, quickly drains their magicka and they can't cast. Other than that, craft up resist gear(and pots if u want) and mages are quite easy to take down.
bpestilence
Use the Atronach stone. It has a similar effect to the Atronach birthsign in TES III and IV, but is even better. Instead of NO magica regeneration, it is simply slowed, and you still get the 50% spell absorption and increased base magica. Combine that with a race with natural defenses, and a couple enchanted items and you can make it so that magic has no effect on you at all.
