Athenrys Posted November 28, 2011 Share Posted November 28, 2011 Remember the nice Mithril armor? Though what I envisioned was something less complicating. It would be nice to see simple chain mail armors, hauberks, or something similar. It would look pretty medieval and would suite the Skyrim and Nordic atmospheres, especially with the available nordic helmets in Skyrim. A nice chain-mail hauberk work over some nord shirt with embroidery on the sleeves, and some leather belts or straps could be really nice. What I thought was, how about the guards armor? The solitude guard for example. If someone could increase the length of the chain sleeves and make it long sleeve, that would be a nice addition, seeing that how cold it is and all that, and if there would also be some chain-mail skirt below to cover the knees. Also maybe include a mail coif? Very simple medieval armory there. BarefootWarrior Posted November 28, 2011 Share Posted November 28, 2011 I brought this one up some time ago, and I agree. it would be nice to have some chain mail in light and heavy armors. I rarely use armor, but when I do, I would like some chain mail. I thought it odd that the Imperial soldiers in this game looked like a Roman Centurion rather then the Imperial look in Oblivion, but that's just me. And, I'm all for the warm fuzzy fur armor, I like the organic look to it...but, some chain mail would be nice. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

BarefootWarrior Posted November 28, 2011 Share Posted November 28, 2011 I had to go back into Oblivion to look up the chain mail I liked a lot, that is until I made my own mod. It was the 'Chain mail Greaves ' I liked. They were chain mail legs with a leather mid section or brief looking panels. I thought they fit well and were simple. Though in all honesty I think for Skyrim's atmosphere we can do without the fancy mithril chain armor. Good old fashioned chain mail armor styles would be perfect in my opinion. p.s. There were some great models for chain mail armor Had to think about this and I have to agree that Mithril doesn't seem suited ( no pun intended ) for this. I have this vision of some lite armor with a chain mail and fur...or leather. I would like to see some fur capes to go along with that. oh well... kevinwastaken Posted December 22, 2011 Share Posted December 22, 2011 I was actually shocked to find no chainmail in Skyrim with its generic viking theme. But then I remembered Skyrim is "streamlined" so it makes sense. The traces of chainmail on the existing armors hints just how horrific a true set of chainmail would look in 512x512 so maybe we are all better off leaving this to the modding community.
