matrices
For many players, the game becomes ridiculously easy in an instant because of a fundamentally broken mechanic: percentage stacking. For instance: 1. Nord is 50% base frost resist. He finds 30% frost resist item, and is now 80% frost resist. All frost dragons are hereby a joke. 2. Same goes for that 50% base fire resist race with a 30% fire resist piece of armor, but that's even more ridiculous since now all high-level dragons and the entire main quest are a joke. 3. Mage finds four 20% magicka reduction/destruction reduction/regen pieces, and now almost never runs out of mana. This situation is game-breaking and needs to be corrected. A logical model is the one from Eve Online, where there is (a) a stacking penalty and (b) stacking is not simple addition. To explain (b): : if you have 25% fire resist and add another 25% fire resist item, that should only add 0.25 x 75-->18.75% (i.e., only 25% of the remaining 75% unresisted value) and then *that* value should be cut by 1/3 or so for the stacking penalty. The stacking penalty should be such that anything beyond a third buff to the same value is useless. So if you have four 28% magicka reduction pieces of armor, the fourth is useless, the third is gimped by half, and the second is gimped by a third. Combining (a) and (b) the game can stay challenging throughout rather than become a cakewalk for no good reason. peregrine111
don't use it if you find it gamebreaking  I personally don't even use spells.Wasting time and resources and still missing 80% time because it's enough for AI to make 1 step to the side and I'll miss them even from 2 metres? Another thing - lightning magic - if you meet powerful lightning mage as a caster, you are DONE - NPCs seems to have unlimited mana (or don't use up charges on staffs), so till you can aim the spell you are already OUT OF MANA to cast it! Not to mention every single creep past lowest level (Draugr, Bandit, Wolf) has so much resistance that your spells just warm up his feet (I swear I was incinerating that boss of Bleak Falls Barrow for 5 minutes with my Flames till he finally died - and when I got hit once I ended up at 20% hp..) Magicka regenerates at 33% rate in combat, which, even with good enchantments is NOTHING. Spell damage doesn't scale (aka firebolt will always do 25 damage, compared to 1handed attack which can do about 380 dmg around lvl 40).All you can do by leveling up is spamming some more (by getting mana and reducing costs) freaking fireballs and get the hell out before closest "tough" enemy walks up to you. All you can do for increasing your spell damage is drinking a potion that doesn't stack with it's weaker variants. So I guess it's +100% dmg? which ain't much compared to about 292 % increase from enchanting and another about 262% from Smithing getting to absurd 554% damage increase on melee weapons. So... HAVE YOU EVEN BOTHERED TO PLAY A MAGE or you just read some stupid comment and took it as granted? I guess if you find spells OP, you should probably move difficulty from novice to at least expert.. sorry for raging but I'm already fed up with topics "XX is OP!" Oomo
So... HAVE YOU EVEN BOTHERED TO PLAY A MAGE or you just read some stupid comment and took it as granted? I guess if you find spells OP, you should probably move difficulty from novice to at least expert.. sorry for raging but I'm already fed up with topics "XX is OP!" Maybe take your own advice "Don't like them, don't read them" ;-) Seriously though this is a Skyrim modding REQUEST forum. The OP is requesting a mod to something he wants to change about the game. That is the point of this forum, it's not here for you to come along and flame people.

I want to play a nord but the fact that the game offers me a whopping overpowered 50% resist to frost turns me off that right away. I'd love to see a mod that basically takes away the zero from all these overpowered items. Start with 5% frost resist instead of %50. %30 resist item is just %3. Some of us like challenge, not in built god modes and this is why we request these mods.
