Solsius
Dear Skyrim Discussion Page, I am playing Skyrim on my computer. My character is a Dark Elf. As far as I recall, everyone in game referred me to both a female and a Dark Elf. I recently turned into a vampire during the Dawnguard quest. I went to Solstheim, and did some quests. During one of the quests, there was a lady who told me I don't understand their customs because I was not a Dark Elf. This confused me because I am a Dark Elf. I typed in "showracemenu" to see what my race was, and it said my race was "playerrace". To test, I selected Dark Elf from the menu, and talked to the lady again. Selecting this caused my orange eyes to go back to the vanilla red eyes. She referred to me as a Dark Elf when I talked to her again. I reset my game, reset my character and typed "player.setrace darkelfracevampire". In the Showracemenu, it stated that I was a Dark Elf. I talked to the lady as a vampire again, and she did not recognize me as a Dark Elf. Does being a vampire hide what race you are when talking to people? How can I fix it so people can recognize me as a Dark Elf, but I can be a vampire as well? (keep in mind that the vampire is from Harkon). Too Long; Didn't Read - People in the game don't recognize me as a Dark Elf when I turned into a vampire. How can I make it so people see me as a Dark Elf, but remain a vampire? IsharaMeradin
The dialog condition is looking specifically for the DarkElfRace. When you are a vampire, you are DarkElfRaceVampire and thus the check fails. If you want to "correct" this, you have to edit the conditions on all the affected dialogue to include checks for the vampire version of the race. Keep in mind that should the affected dialogue's quest have already started in your game, changing it may not have an affect.

I guess I won't make a big fuss about it now. Thank you, and have a good day.
