Can someone check Old North Church for me please?

Hi there, I'm bug hunting an issue where windows on the exterior object of Old North Church have become see through. It would seem they aren't meant to be.

However, if I load my fallout4.esm (and no mods etc) I'm getting the same result. If I coc from main menu its the same thing, which is a bit baffling. Although it feels like it's related to the esm supplied by beth, it could well be something I've done accidentally.

And I did have a similar issue with Far Harbour, where the whole of Far Harbour disappeared (people walking around on invisible items), and it was only by re-installing Far Harbour that I cleared that issue up. Never figured out why, cos that seemed to happen sometime before I started making any mods myself (or maybe it happened after I made my first one, hmm).

But for the sake of testing - If someone is able to go to commonwealth > oldnorthchurchext (I use CK btw)

and let me know if you can spot something that might create the blocked windows, please let me know. It would be useful for me to know.

I'm wondering if it's some kind of zone (using M for markers) that I've accidentally deleted, because the objects themselves - OldNorthChurch (3d objects) seem to have pre-existing transparent windows. Do the 3D objects of the church (I think it has both an exterior and interior model) have see through windows for you? There's a plywood door placed over one of the windows but in my copy nothing placed over the others.

What are you seeing there please? And in game are you definitely seeing boarded up windows??

Thanks for your help! I've asked because it seems my only remaining option for testing is a clean install which I don't want to do right now!! also my computer really doesn't like loading that area of the commonwealth in CK... I guess this issue could be a number of many things now. So am just trying to eliminate some possibilities, thank you.

I've noticed something similar in Cambridge PD. I remember the windows there having a translucent white masking the view out of them but in my last play the windows were open and the world didn't look very good because it was an LOD world. I didn't look into it and chalked it up to just a glitch.

I'm doing the Railroad quest now I didn't notice anything wrong with the windows in the church but I wasn't really looking. I'll check it out and get back to you.

It may be a new bug in the game.

Thank you, it's the whole main building, you'd know it if you saw it, all windows would be see through and you could look into the empty building from the outside. If you walk around the building then every window on the ground level would be see-through etc. If you didn't see it then it's probably not happening for you! Though I'm still in need of knowing what other people perhaps see in Creation Kit at the cell oldnorthchurchext - it's good to know that you didn't notice any issues your end.

Perhaps it's just my end then and isn't something I will be able to resolve without re-installing the whole game (ugh).

In my last play through I had a see through walls glitch in Goodneighbor and while I'm not positive, I think it's because I had installed rdunlap's Rebuilt settlement series with the Gandalf's window repair and cleaning service which I later found out is really buggy and can affect all windows throughout the game in weird ways. Just throwing it out as a potential idea.

have you tried editing this line in the custom.ini ? ( in the pic its default )

http://prntscr.com/cb80jc

I HAVE to use it or everything goes in and out especially in areas where ive done extensive editing/deleting .

This doesn't sound like a Pre-Culling issue and using that .ini edit is not the best solution for the problem. Setting that disables Pre-Culling for the ENTIRE game and can and will KILL FPS and performance. Especially if your not on a top notch PC.

Also I won't get into the Editing/DELETING but "It's NEVER a good idea to DELETE Vanilla Ref's.

I noticed the same thing on my current play through as well, so I don't think it's just your game. I've also got the see through buildings in Goodneighbor ( The Hotel I think?) where you can see the LOD and only partially rendered terrain outside the walls. I've also noticed that the ground in Hangman's Alley has been modified as there are more "lumps and bumps" than there used to be (I use scrap everything and the Autohotkey placement mod, so I KNOW that I had all the footpaths/sidewalks above ground) Now the terrain sticks up all over the place and looks horrible.

I think Bugthesda did some a$$ing about in their latest patch so I would suspect some hanky panky on their end is causing issues.

TBH i also noticed that CK and the game itself dont " communicate " that well... Im seeing stuff that ive edited or removed re-appearing or not in the position i had them set .

Or seeing shifted terrain, textures that i didnt use etc...as if the game has a mind of its own.

Is it possible that the issues with the church could be caused by a mod that unintentionally screwed up certain global items/textures ??
