PhunkyMunky
So, I decide to pull everything out, delete all mods and reinstall the game, figuring that maybe I could get everything put in, clean saves, everything. Nope, now there's no data folder at all. So no place to put mods. Geeze, how do I unf*ck myself here? Any help? I've had trouble getting all my mods to work, which is the reason I did this. I culd have tried going through and fixing it without deleting everything, but I wanted to see if I could find a better way to get it all in, and have it all work in one shot. Apparently I did the wrong thing. As for me, I'm a complete noob at modding, or adding mods to games. I have some general idea how to get things in. FOMM has never worked for me, even without mods selected, FOMM crashes my game. Well, I guess I'm committed, now, to redoing the whole thing. Just not sure how I'm going to redo it, as like I said, I think I completely screwed it up. Currently it looks like steam/ steamapps/ common/ Fallout New Vegas/ Empty Sigh..... Any help here would be appreciated. FOMM doesn't even recignize I have FNV loaded, now.
FaejaVu
If the only problem is that you're missing the data folder, this problem will be very easily resolved. Right click within the folder that the data folder is supposed to be in, click New > Folder and name it Data. So it should be (if remembering correctly since I am not currently at my own computer to double check) Fallout New Vegas / Data. I hope that gets you up and running again. Edit: I forgot to mention FOMM not recognizing it being installed. There is an option within FOMM to tell it where your game is installed. Unfortunately as I stated above, I can't tell you exactly where that option is since I am not currently at my home computer. Once it's for sure pointed to the right directory though, it should work just fine. Edited November 29, 2011 by FaejaVu
PhunkyMunky
Nah, that entire Fallout New Vegas folder is empty. WISH it was just data, would be an easy fix wouldn't it!! LOL Man, I feel like a moron. I think next time I have issues with mods, I'll leave it all there LOL. Now the game says it's downloaded, but there's no icon or anything else. Sigh.... Gonna be a long day LOL
Fonger
Nah, that entire Fallout New Vegas folder is emptyonly 2 possibilities 1 - you forgot to re-install the game after you removed it 2 - Microsoft's Evil UAC is on the prowl and removed the item because it never gave you permission to install it in the first place

Gonna be a long day LOL That's rather odd. I would suggest trying to reinstall it again. Though if it claims it is installed, try a search of your computer for FalloutNV.esm. That should fairly quickly track down the folder containing FNV data.
PhunkyMunky
Just looked up through steam, apparently it's taking it's sweet time reinstalling. 1% in about an hour LOL. Man.... Well, it'll get done when it gets done. Thank you guys for the help here. While I am waiting..... What is the best way to keep mods organized when installed? My issues with the mods could very well be due to things looking like a small childs unclean room, completely chaotic.
FaejaVu
I'm not sure about keeping them organized when installed. They go where they are supposed to go. The only way I can think of to try organizing it any differently would be to go into GECK and change where it references the files from, which would seem to be way too much work for how little it would likely actually help in the long run. So long as you make sure all the files for the mods are in the correct places everything should run fine unless the mods themselves cause some sort of a conflict with another.
