ctogher
:angry2: Once again having to run around repairing the damage done to me and mine by some illiterate 10yr old *anker who has nothing better to do with his time than grind out mindless and unimaginative viruses on someone elses generator. PLEASE! Is there a logical reason behind this? Why is it that the only creativity apparent out there is this reprehensible pastime of doing damage to other people. Is this like some form of new sport? I wonder if their is a valid reason or is it merely the hormone-addled minds of one generation trying to prove their self-worth to another? Whatever the logic behind it, I am of firm conviction that death would be too good..... perhaps covering them in blood and dropping them into a pit full of rats would equate to something approaching fair and suitable punishment....... :D Is it possible to educate these "lost souls" in the ways of social ethics, clean living and suppression of this destructive behaviour? I mean, who is to blame here? The child who uses the tool, or the tool's creator? (Sounds almost like a gun control debate "Guns don't kill! People do..") :veryangry:
ohGr
this happened to me 1 month ago, some little idiot who was 8, managed to get a trojan on my computer, he did that window thing, so he can talk to you, but you cant close the window, i decided to admit to him i am 14, and he formatted my c: after i threatened to Quote "split your spine, feed your entrails to dogs, and give you a shotgun facelift" Unquote, i still remember what i said...a little too graphic, but it may sound stupid, but there are actually a internet police, using those hacks and stuff to crack down on people who use them, stupid part is, the ones their making, get leaked out to the hacking communities, Warez for example. Malchik
ctogher, goodness me, where do you come from that they have bankers of 10 years old? And there's no need to use a star surely. Is 'banker' a bad word in your society? Perhaps these nuisances have a value in a strange way. They at least make us aware of weaknesses making us take much more care about what we do, backing up, off-site storage, virus scans etc. Sadly, as in much of life, we often only learn the hard way! Akrid
I know somone who isn't so much of a hacker is he is a computer geneis, whenever I get that kind of problem I just have him deal with it, if he can't or is too busy, he knows many who can. He and myself are the type who hate kiddie hackers or even adult offensive hackers (much worse) that attack people for no reason and mess with games, like destroying MMORPG's Anyway for yous who don't have such connections seek help. Shakkara
Bah virusses today are NOTHING. And that 'trojan' probably did not reformat your PC since that takes a while, but deleted your partitions, which can be repaired. It is absolutely no challenge for me to make a virus like blaster but instead of annoying people by restarting their PC or stuff like that it wipes people's MBR, partition table and the first 10 tracks of their harddrive while we are at it. And let's take their CMOS along with it too. No. challenge. at. all. Why some of these hackers or wanna-be hackers pull their immature poo I don't know. Why do people rape other people? Why do people kill eachother? Why does the majority of people follow warmongering leaders? Probably because they don't understand that it is not the way. ctogher
It is absolutely no challenge for me to make a virus like blaster but instead of annoying people by restarting their PC or stuff like that it wipes people's MBR, partition table and the first 10 tracks of their harddrive while we are at it. And let's take their CMOS along with it too. First off, apologies to all for strong language  I agree that simple tricks like scrapping the MBR etc are relatively easy. But that also means that the argument of "I do it for the challenge.." has no validity. Anyone with a basic understanding of how a pc operates can achieve same with little effort.... However, my better half uses the same machine and has a flaw where she will accept attachments from freinds in the sure and certain knowledge that they MUST be safe...! This particular excuse for decent code was buried in a word doc. which she subsequently opened and ran...! Now, no IDE at all!! So, swap out cmos.... once again... (This has happened before...)... The question remains... what is the point in providing virus generators to the general populace? I have quite a collection brewing on an old machine and look forward to the day when I can return them to their creator, express!!!
Switch
Why do they do it? Well I figure it either makes them feel big, or they somehow think it proves their 1337ness to others because they can use someone elses program to delete a file from someone elses PC. Personally, I think script kiddies are far worse than actual hackers who write their own programs. Sure hackers can be a bigger danger because they're experts, but at least when your PC gets nuked you know some effort was put into it, rather than some deluded 11 year old pressing a button. :P Besides, real hackers actually sometimes put their skills to use (like attacking Microsux :D). Curt Sibling
IMHO:Personally I cannot see the profit in attacking random computers of random people. What does it prove, save immaturity and foolishness. And the hacker stands to make a real enemy out of the victim. There are other ways for mindless nu-metal-listening PC geeks to prove their manlihood. Like a deadly claymore duel at dawn, for instance.
Shakkara
Like Switch said, I don't mind people attacking Micro$hit, they have a reason for that. But just attacking random people for fun is just as silly as vandalizing a bus stop or trashing a random car. You don't know the people you hurt with it, so what's the damn point? Zmid
this happened to me 1 month ago, some little idiot who was 8, managed to get a trojan on my computer, he did that window thing, so he can talk to you, but you cant close the window I got this once as well, but I think he seemed most disconcerted when I merely laughed at him, reached over, then pulled the cable out from my modem. I immediately ran a virus checker and that was the last of that. Since then, I've installed a firewall and antivirus programme and had no problems since.
