Mortimer
So over my last plays of Skyrim I've either followers are too fragile and will die by tripping on some rocks ... or there are mods that make them essential and they get back to their feet after a second of being on their knees. I was wondering if there has ever been a system like this. A Follower can be knocked to their knees but they cannot get back into action until their health rises above a certain point. They can only regenerate themselves when no hostiles are around, or you can heal them to get them back into the fight. If anyone has played Guild Wars 2 that is sort of the idea I have, a follower needs you to help aid uninterrupted before they can jump back up and help you, otherwise they are laid prone/kneeling, you need a time to perform a 'first aid' action as it where by talking with them while they are down (maybe you can feed them a potion). Does this make sense? Edit: Other thoughts - followers health 'caps' out at about half of their full health after they recover, you need to rest/sleep or heal them for them to get back to normal. cdcooley
The basic problem with them recovering too quickly is solvable by changing a few game settings. If you've never made a mod for yourself this is the perfect time to start. The settings you can to change are: fEssentialDownCombatHealthRegenMultfEssentialHealthPercentReGainfEssentialNonCombatHealRateBonusfEssentialNPCMinimumHealth In my game I set the first two values to 0.01, the third to 0.0, and the last one to -90. With those settings the essential followers will eventually heal on their own but won't normally be get up again until a particular combat situation is over or you heal them (or they have health potions they can use). To make the mod just install the Creation Kit from Steam then run it, load Skyrim.esm from the File-Data... menu, then go to the Gameplay-Settings... menu and find those four entries and change their values, then finally save and name your new mod. Essential followers will still automatically heal completely at the end of combat and I haven't found a good way around that (other than a custom script like the one on Inigo) but changing those game settings will keep them from dropping to a knee then jumping up again a second or two later like the normally do. Mortimer
Ok, would this work happily alongside a Follower Overhaul style mod like UFO?
cdcooley
Ok, would this work happily alongside a Follower Overhaul style mod like UFO?Yes, I think at least one of the overhaul mods already alters those values but changing them to something else won't break anything. And a mod implementing those changes is one of the few types of mods you can safely remove if you change your mind about using it.
