The Infamous Archive Invalidation

Hey guys, new to the forum, not necessarily to modding but I wouldn't say I'm an expert. Basically my issue is I can't Archive Invalidate. I've tried looking up multiple things online to help and no luck. Here's my problem;

 

If I go into tools and click archive Invalidation it asks me if I want to remove it. If I click 'yes' it then tells me that access is denied. There are two main issues, first the file path its indicating doesnt even contain the file its after, which makes me think its looking in the wrong place. So I thought I'd just find a way to tell it the right place to look. (I'm running the game via steam and I use the Script Extender) which should be program(x86) etc. (its currently looking under Users/) etc. This leads me to my second problem. The Archive .bsa isnt even in the Data folder of Fallout New Vegas, does anyone have any idea whats going on?

You have the game installed in the worst possible place. Any changes you are trying to make to the base files is being blocked by the OS User Access Control.

 

There are hundreds of postings about this on the nexus and there is instructions on Steam on how to move Steam and your games out of Program Files.

I've been getting that feeling, though wish I could have found some of those threads rather than bugged people with yet another topic here. I'll look into moving the files and see where that gets me, thanks!
