Derekl1988
I just built a brand new pc with a gtx 1080 and an i7 6700k. EVERYTIME I try to quit skyrim to desktop the game crashes. EVERYTIME. I was at one time using mods but i deleted every single one of them and I also uninstalled and reinstalled skyrim. I even went as far as to use different cables to power the GPU, thinking it may have been at fault to no avail. I disabled all autosaves. I've done just about any and everything I can think of and still no luck. My PC should have 0 issues with a game like skyrim. It's really frustrating. What happens is I load a vanilla save (the intro level) I make it out of the cave with hadvar and I save manually, quit to desktop and BOOM, black screen. Alt tabbing from that point does nothing nor does ctrl alt delete. Nothing fixes it but a hard reset. When I did happen to get the game to work it would also do this at random times such as load screens or what not. I'm at my wits end and I cant seem to find anything on the internet to help me out. Anyone else suffer this issue?

BlackRoseOfThorns
~ Crash Fixes~ SKSE~ ENB / EnboostSet Skyrim executables to always run as administrator in Win7 compability mode. Have you tried turning on Steam overlay, Alt+Tab to desktop and then terminate application? I used to have problems with quitting Skyrim application with some older types of ENBs in fullscreen mode (PS: There is a mod for seamless forced windowed mod). Totally disabling Steam Overlay for Skyrim in Steam options might have positive effects when you run the game with Enboost or ENB memory fix. HalloweenWeed
Do you have the same problem after starting a fresh new game? And are you using ENB?Have you updated your vid drivers? I know you said you built a new OS build, but OS's usually install old drivers by default.

HalloweenWeed
I know for a fact that upgrading to Windows 10 does not cause this problem, because I did it last June, and Skyrim runs/exits fine. The only difference I have found, is that now when Skyrim freezes (doesn't do this often, maybe once every few weeks and could be caused by mod), I can't shut it down with the task manager any more. Now I have to use the task manger to shut down Windows when Skyrim freezes (the task manager window with close program options will not render, neither will any other open application). And I didn't even update my (AMD) graphics driver, it is a year old. Edited September 1, 2016 by HalloweenWeed
