Articles claim things are going very well at Skunk Works in Palmdale. Their fusion reactor is laser triggered, magnetically contained, fits in the back of a pickup truck and can power 80,000 homes:

Fusion power has been perpetual vaporware since last century, but I think they finally got it figured out. Both of the major hurdles with the technology (unreliable triggers and containment) have been resolved.

 

Imagine a world without power lines and where energy is infinitely decentralized and portable. Soon there will be no such thing as "off the grid" for homes. :smile:
