RuinerGaming
After you claim a settlement for the raiders, Prestons affinity instantly flips from the affinity he was at to -1100 and basically gives you a unique speech about you working with raiders. Even if you kill every raider leader and wipe out every raider in Nuka-World, he will not speak to you anymore. For good guy players who just want to experience everything the DLC has to offer before betraying the raiders, this is a kick in the teeth. I would like a modder to take a look at Preston and give us a way to get back into his good graces or just turn him back into a companion after the speech. Can't play the game anymore because of this
lucian_dragos
I would like this as well.. the simple way (I think in my limited knowledge) is break any links to Preston and the quests for the raiders
pra
What exactly pisses Preston off? Is it only about taking over Commonwealth settlements, or do these required for the Nuka World mainquest count as well? My plan was to do everything up to restoring power to the park, and then killing the raiders. Is that still possible? Or, is it possible to restore power to the park without the quest Power Play? Anyway, I agree that such a mod would be nice. It could be implemented as a speech check, where you tell Preston something like: "calm down, I have to mantain my cover". A slightly more complex mod could make the speech check easier the more minutemen settlements you have, and decrease Preston's affinity by a small value for each settlement you take over while "undercover", which is then restored by killing the raiders. It would be a really awesome mod if you could actually lead the Minutemen against the Raiders. You tell Preston to prepare an army, then use your influence as Overboss to get all the raiders drunk/otherwise distracted, make them abandon their guard posts, and then let the Minutemen in. edit: have you tried using console commands? http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_4_console_commands#NPC_Manipulation <- " targetID.setav CA_affinity 1000" might work, though I don't know if this behaviour is affinity-based Edited September 2, 2016 by pra
lucian_dragos
Only taking Commonwealth settlements trigger Preston to hate you and affinity commands do not work to fix or stop it... also by default you can not do powerplay without taking at least 3 Commonwealth settlements... you can skip it with console commands but we would like a mod to just once again fix Preston x.x
pra
Hm google says that you still can power on the park even if you kill the raiders first, so I guess I'll just do that. But, another idea for such a mod would be pretending to take over settlements. You kill the raiders, and lie that you took the settlement over. Or you lie to Preston that you did that. It could work both ways: you can stay with the Minutemen and lie to the Raiders that you are betraying the MM, or you actually betray the MM and lie to them that you will be betraying the Raiders. Basically, this would be a mod about lying and betraying people all the time :D
RuinerGaming
I think my major issue with Preston is that :1. You didn't get any warning about it 2. It happens even if you don't take over any populated settlements 3. There is no way to fix it once it happens(And you've playing survival, you're even more screwed)
Veliwine
Well... while I hate how it happens... you really shouldn't -need- a warning about it.. Preston is very much... anti-raider... like.. that's a straight up 100% fact.. so taking any territory for a raider group is pretty much on his biggest NO GOSH DANG WAY list .. so... you really don't need a warning? Degby1
you can console ur way around this with completequest dlc04mq04 and then setstage dlc04mq05 5. The exact point that Preston gets the arsehole about it is when you stick the flag down. Using this method you can keep one of ur Raider factions in, without pissing the Minutemen off as you havent technically claimed any territory for them.
