Creosote999
I'm also done. Opinions, yep they are, and there are more than enough "Skyrim is awesome" opinions out there. The Skyrim fan-club strikes me a bit like the Apple fan-club, no matter what wrongs they do, the loyal fans scream "Awesome". This game isn't awesome, its adequate at best. Its a rehash of Oblivion, with a joke UI. Should have been called "Oblivion Again". Same old Guilds, same old Quests, become the Listener, the Arch-Mage, head of the Thieves Guild, yawn, yawn. Where are the NCP personalities, the humour? You can get married, a nice touch, but thats about it. Spell making removed, well anything removed that may cause the console brigade to have to actually think. Where are the choices, the decisions? Same old dungeons, same monsters, once you've done a few dungeons they are all the same. The game is poorly tested, rushed to release (why is 11-11-11 such a big deal?) and lacks any real balancing. Its level system is dependent upon using skills, so you use them, they even let you train them, then you end up with over-powered chars. They cant even put out a patch without making the game worse. To those that love the game my opinion must be mystifying, but then their opinion is equally mystifying to me, I really cannot see why anyone would rate this game, its buggy, boring and dull to look at and play. Fearless999
Well I've never played any of the previous elder scroll titles so this is a first for me and all I can say is that this game is outstanding. Breathtaking to say the least. I've only played Totalwar games and thought I'd give this a shot because of the reviews and I'm not disappointed. I've managed to get a copy of the strategy guide which in itself is mind blowing!!. It may be disappointing to the 'old hands' of the Elder Scrolls but for for me as a newbee to this series it's staggering to say the least!........................there I've said my bit :o)

I can understand that, since you obviously haven't played RPGs before. It was the same for me with Morrowind. I don't want to hail Morrowind in hindsight, since its terribly outdated by todays standards. But there are other RPG games on the market that handle certain aspects much better than Skyrim. And that's what the criticism is all about. That and the fact, that people came to expect certain standards from the Bethesda label.
Joshico
I like skyrim i think it rly good (wish it had obsidian awesome story if you know what i mean) and i can understand some ppl say morrowind and oblivion(omg!) is better since i played those 2 games. But is not exactly fair to call skyrim the "blunder" of the TES its simply simplified (in some ways that bad i can tell you that, ui anyone?) and of course is buggy as hell only dumbasses think its perfect and bug free at launch, just be patience and they will fix it, i should know because of Fallout 3 (1.5 patch broked the mods...) In my opinion i think skyrim was atleast more stable in launch version than FNV was, but the games does have faults but those faults are not "this game suxs because i cant destroy a city by myself!" like some of those ppl say, but i do hate the fact there no spell making. marharth
The UI is more than a matter of isolated opinion on NexusIf a thousand people don't like my car, it is still opinions. If a million people hate chicken, it is still opinions. If 95% of the world hate me, it is still opinions. If everybody exept me hates it, it is still a big pile of opinions. Everybody can have a different one, and it is never a good argument. Most people I've ever heard of hates to wake up early in the morning to go to work. A few people likes it. Then why do we still wake up early, when people rather be home at night hanging out with friends, than waking up early? The UI will be changed by mods. The bugs in the UI will be changed with Bethesda. If it is proven the UI is harsh on people with problems with their hand, there will be a UI fix or a UI-change download from Bethesda. Saying you dont like it, or me saying I do like it, changes very little. Opinions can make mods happen. Facts can make official patches happen. It is a fact X quest is bugged. It is not a fact Y quest is boring. And about the picture/link: People don't like the big 3d viewer. I love the big 3d viewer. I do 3d as a hobby, and love seing how they have handled certain parts. If you do not care about it, since you want to RP, then I see your problem. However, neither is right or wrong. I hope I managed to say that without sounding unbelieveable rude, or totally confusing! Cheers,MatthRarely will I agree with Ginny but you kind of missed the point. The link she had showed some of the real issues with the UI that are not based off of opinions. Its not the fact that the 3d viewer is there, it is that it takes up too much space when it should not.
Matth85
Rarely will I agree with Ginny but you kind of missed the point. The link she had showed some of the real issues with the UI that are not based off of opinions. Its not the fact that the 3d viewer is there, it is that it takes up too much space when it should not. *sigh* Opinions, again.I for one like the UI, par the bug where clicking clicks you out of it. Does that mean I am wrong? I wouldn't want it any different. I like it. I think it is refreshing and new. HOWEVER, I don't go around and say that. And that is my point. Saying you like and everybody on the forum hates it, doesn't make it right. I am not religious, yet there are billions of them on earth. Who is right? Nobody cares, actually. If there it is proven that yeah, this UI is super akward to use, then I'd agree. However, scrolling have never been akward, and the text is still visible for my eyes. Hence, this is opinions, not facts. The thing with "real issues" is a big opinion, wether you believe it or not. It is not a real issue that the 3d viewer is too big. It is a real issue if the UI is hard on peope with problems in their hand. But that link didn't take that point up, just that "Hey, there is space over here than I want to use!". I do understand your point, and Ginny's for that matter. However, it is based on opinions and is as the whole topic: Not a good argument for anything. We know people don't like the UI. That is no valid reason to say this game is "crappy". You can, however, say " I think this game is crappy, for me, because of the UI!". The latter means you don't like it, the first means everybody must feel the same. My only point, to our discussion and the OP:Don't make arguments on opinions. They are easy to turn on the head, and we all got different one. Make them on facts. We all know too little space is used in the UI, but that is not an argument to call it "bad UI". We all know this game is not flawless, but that is no reason to call it a "bad game". We all know it got bugs, which will be fixed. Can the game suit everybody? No, it can not. Am I glad there is an UI with a 3d viewer, so us 3d artist/none RPers can enjoy the graphics of tings close up while paised? Heck yeah! I don't want an Oblivion 2, or Morrowind 2, I want new. This is new, me like. That doesn't mean I should go around to every "I hate this game and the UI!" topic and scream "I LIKE IT!!", because that would be opinions against opinion. Something that got no base on anything but prefferences per person. But I see I am repeating myself. I will quietly take my leave, and thoose who want to disagree with me, may do so. We can always agree to disagree. Cheers,Matth
CrusnikVamp
Sure, the game does have it's hicup's but so did Morrowind, and in my personal opinion, anyone who says Morrowind is better then Skyrim, can hand over their Skyrim copy, when i played Morrowind, i couldn't understand the bloody story, i mean, come on, was there even a story? But not with Skyrim, from the moment you get saved by a BFD (Big Freaking Dragon) till the time you kill said BFD, the story is understandable and current, plus, not only are the graphics better, but theres more to do, don't get me wrong, i liked Morrowind as well, especially the expansions, werewolf all the way, but i just couldn't understand the base concept of Morrowind, (on a side note, if anyone does understand Morrowind, and can explain it, feel free to me a message). but in Skyrim you can use the forge and make your own weapons and armor, but i think i'm getting off point, so i'll just stop here.
