bradapeterson
Not really sure if this is the right place, but I've exhausted every option I could think of. I've been feeling like it's time for another playthrough, and got to work modding. I followed STEP: Core (http://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.2.9.2). I installed every core mod, and nothing else. Once I got everything setup, not long into the game, I ran across the west gate of Helgen. Something was clearly wrong... See attached (helgen-in-game.jpg) My first though was... I obviously messed up. So, I reinstalled skyrim without any mods and started a new game. I enabled tgm, tcl, and upped the speed multiplier, then flew over to this gate. Same result. I started searching to see if anyone else had ran across this. No luck. I installed various Helgen specific mods to see if any reworked this gate. No luck. I installed the Creation Kit, and ... after a bit of trial and error... was able to locate the gate in the editor. It has the same issue in the editor. See attached (helgen-creation-kit.jpg) I'm really hoping someone can just tell me that I'm crazy, or dumb, or something... and all I gotta do to fix it is _______. I don't know if it helps, but it's "HelgenExterior06 - MQ101HelgenWestGate - 000AA7C8" Thanks in advance!
IsharaMeradin
There is a door there that is enabled prior to the opening scenes in Helgen and afterwards it is disabled. The door has texture only on one side, the inside. Thus if you should somehow get to the outside of that door before the opening scenes in Helgen you may very well see what you saw. If this was on a normal play through, then something either interrupted the disable/enable process or something made changes to Helgen and this may have been missed. Look for mods that modify MQ101DragonAttack quest. The door is linked to dunCGPostAMarker which is assigned to the property PostCGAreaA on the quest and is used in stage 200 of the quest. Also check if any of your mods modify the marker or the gate/door itself. This is best done with TES5Edit.
