Zonden
If there is no way to do this, which I am pretty sure there is, could someone make a mod for this. If you console command checkinventory on a NPS you will notice some armor will have "outfit" at the very end which I am assuming is the flag to say it is the default. So could someone create a mod that lets your change that or is there a way to already change that. For example if I have a follower, say a housecarl, when they are in my party they wear what armor I give them that is better than their current but I would prefer it so that they always wore the armor. Any tips or advice would be appreciated.Thank you.
Tair
Open the console and click your follower. Then, type showinventory. Personally, I like to remove all of their default gear. removeitem X Y where X is the reference ID and Y is the quantity, referenced from the showinventory command. Then, give them whatever you like. If they still refuse to equip it (shouldn't happen if you strip their base gear), then use equipitem X where X is the item's ID referenced from showinventory. Yeah, I know how to do all of that but there is always a glitch. I will remove all items in their inventory but when I remove the last piece, like the shield, it will put all of the default armor back on them,Also I am wanting them to always wear the armor, not just when they are following me. I think being flagged as "outfit" has something to do with that.

DerHeimataerde
I'd like to know how to do this as well. I run into this problem frequently with Illia.
Raxmasta
Bump, been looking for this answer, now I also noticed there have been mods that have changed some characters default clothing and not just the appearance of the original, how are these mods made? What program? Edited January 17, 2012 by Raxmasta
