flail wepons (spiky ball on a chain)

Is it not possible to have that Flail part seperate from the weapon, and link them in some manner, "tacking on" as it were?

When you say it's not possible, is flat out not possible, or not possible until we have more information from a CK/experimentation with code?

Well you guys could try to make a petition for Bethesda to include flails, Morning stars, Balls-and-Chains, Whips, blow darts, nunchucks, and three-piece staffs in the game. If we are all willing to waste another 19.99 for an expansion that includes such weapons and a bit of exploration into Morrowind for some sort of Bogus expansion, I am sure the money they would gain would be enough to make them consider such. Nunchucks and Three-Piece Staffs under Akaviri Weapons. Blowdarts under either Dunmer or Bosmer or Goblin or Forsworn or Feral Falmer weapons, you can actually have all five variations. And the rest could easily fall under Nord (Iron and Steel), Orsimer, and Daedric.

{ADDED}

You would need to change the Skill Trees by the way in including Flail Weapons with Flails and Whips which are one-handed weapons under the one-handed skill tree and Balls-and-Chains as a Two-Handed Weapon under the Two-Handed Tree. The same should be said with the spear with regular spears under one-handed and lances under two-handed. I would change Bow to Ranged Weapons in which would include Bows, Crossbows, and Blowdarts. You could by modding include One-Handed Crossbows and altered bows into Short Bows (Quick, Less Accurate, and Less Damage) and Long Bows (Slow, More Accurate, and More Damage). Nunchuck and Three-Piece Staffs could be included via a mod once Flails and Whips are included via an update or expansion made by Bethesda, however I would place Nunchucks and Three-Piece Staffs under the newly constructed Monk Skill Trees that would be made by us, unless Bethesda would like to make a Monk Skill Arc that would include Shouts, Unarmed, Unarmored, Mystic Arts (weapons like Nunchucks), and other things.

K, what if we forget alllllLLLLLL about the stupid collision circumstances, and focus on more of a "Looks like it works like that" thing. lol

I mean to make it basically a skin for a sword, but maybe with an animation of the chain swinging when attacking? Like the collision would occur the exact same as the invisible sword... but the look would be of a flail. You wouldn't have to do anything but purely visual and animated altering.

Know what I mean?

That's what we did in Oblivion, RGMs Real Flails and Chain Maces creating an illusion of a working flail. You would need someone like fore to make the animations, and that would be a lot of work, maybe too much.

Scripting a stock animation for a flail, you mean? So everytime you swing it, it moves the same exact way each time? That'd be worth looking into, but it would likely still be a lot of work for someone to manage. Then there's the nature of how it would look when sheathed. The ball-and-chain flails are technically apocryphal weapons that really weren't around during the medieval period as many think, actual flails used were quite different, like those used for wheat harvesting, which even Bethesda depicted in Skyrim concept art with the farmer outfit (http://www.uesp.net/w/images/e/e2/SR-concept-Nord_Farm_Clothes.jpg).

Having a gnarly dangling head on a chain with crazy spikes would need to be properly secured, and even then there might be some weight issue. This is all of course just for immersive aesthetics, you can depict it sheathed however you like, since the game also opts for 2h weapons clinging to your back in a nonsensical fashion, while magic staves just vanish, along with any offhanded weapons.

But then comes the way it moves when wielded idly; would the head swing and sway? If so, you'd come back to HDT type physics to pull off. Then there's the notion of bigger, more ridiculous fantasy flails. If these weapons could be rendered in a mod, I'd definitely want the Witch King's flail; so massive it just lays on the ground until my ungodly strong character swings.
