elderiii
Buying all the houses and the furniture for them takes up a good bit of gold. I also buy any item I see that looks good, even if it costs 4,000 gold. I also need a new horse every so many days in-game, since I tend to ride mine off cliffs allot. :P Training at higher levels can cost a few thousand easily, so that's a great money sink if you want to use it. Basically after everything mentioned above, I have amassed over 200,000 gold and still have around 50,000 at lvl 34. That's on a character that only picks up loot that is a 10 to 1 gold to weight ratio too. ;)
CalibanX
For my fighter character, I turned the difficulty up to Master and spent my extra money on the highest quality Health & Stamina Potions from vendors. If the game is more challenging you tend to need more potions and creates a need to have the best ones which worked out as an enjoyable & practical money sink for me. darkjedi73200
more recently potions, arrows have always been an expense, and ore ingots. As you get into the higher tiers of smithing you will have to buy Deadra hearts because Deadra are harder to come by than they were in oblivion. Just so you know Shadow you don't have to waste gold on these. One can be found in the Companion's HQ if you look around it is on a plate. also you can farm them from "Shrine of Mehrune" http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Shrine_of_Mehrunes_Dagon
