I am new, HELP!

Hi guys, I just purchased Fallout New Vegas on Steam with all the DLCs. It is being downloaded as we speak. Anyway I wanted to know what you think I should do before I start playing the game to have the best possible expirience going thru the game for the first time.

Also, do the mods work with Steam's version? Do I need any special program to instal mods (like Curse for WoW.) Should I install the DLC before or after the MODS. Thanks for your help!

Hey there and welcome to the Nexus! :)

 

Two things you should download and install are "FOMM - Fallout Mod Manager" and "Archive InvalidationInvalidted".

 

Also there are many good articles as well as a basic how to on installing mods here How to install mods for Fallout 3

 

This is written for Fallout 3 but works the same way for NV!

 

The DLC question will answer itself pretty much during the process. The core files of the game (main archives/DLCs) are loaded first and then all the other mods!

the FOMM is a must also i would download a mod called a world of pain which is fantastic http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38719. also a good player house for starters is http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35832 and later on this house mod is awesome http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37884. another mod that makes your weapons look a lot better is http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38285. finallly FOOK is great mod to have. other than that just look at the mods of the month to get a feel for good mods to start off with. if you need any help just ask :)
