Chest placing guide / Add new chests to your home

I stumbled across some ID codes on the net and read a few things that worked out for me. Together with a few things that I discovered it will be possible to counter the lack of storage in your somewhat bigger (and smaller) homes.

Go to the desired place and open the console.

1.) Place your container:

You can place your container with player.placeatme f3923 which is a basic chest. Then click with your mouse on the container which is below you

2.) Use getangle x, getangle y and getangle z to determine the place angle. Then use the setangle command to zero everything out.In most cases it is the x axis which has some value and has to be reset to zero, so the container will stand straight on the floor in the right angle. If the chest looks all right, then change nothing.

Example: setangle x 0

3.) Use getpos x,y,z to determine your containers position. Then use the setpos command to change the position in your room. Try changing in small values first.

Example: setpos x -176 (Keep in mind that there is always a possible positive and negative number, don't mix them up).

4.) Use the getscale / setscale command to adjust the size of your chest to your liking. The default value ist 1.0 so setting to 0.9 makes it smaller and 1.1 is bigger.

Example: setscale 0.9 (to reduce the size of the chest).

5.) Use player.setownership to make the chest your property and most likely to prevent a reset. I have been waiting for 10 days outside the room with the newly placed chests and the content (which I added afterward) did not disappear.

Here are some IDs I found to be safe and working

f8476 (large metal chest)

f3923 (large wooden chest)

10e882 (wooden barrel)

Here are some codes I found on a website but I did not test them all myself!

0010E882 (wooden barrel - BarrelFood01_NoRespawn)

0010E884 (wooden barrel - BarrelFood01_NoRespawn)

0010E885 (wooden barrel - BarrelFood01_NoRespawn)

0010E883 (sack - MiscSackLargeFlat01_NoRespawn)

0010E887 (sack - MiscSackLargeFlat02_NoRespawn)

0010E886 (sack - MiscSackLarge_NoRespawn)

0010E888 (sack - MiscSack02LargeFlat_NoRespawn)

0010E889 (sack - MiscSack02LargeFlat_NoRespawn)

0010E889 (sack - MiscSack02Small_NoRespawn)

0010E88A (sack - MiscSack02SmallFlat_NoRespawn)

000F3923 (PlayerHouseChest - should be safe too)

000F8476 (LargeChestNoRespawn)

000F8477 (TreasRuinsUrnLargeEmptyNoRespawn)

You may as well skip the zeroes when entering your ID.

IMPORTANT:

The chests' physics stay at the spawn area. You have to leave the room and reload the cell you spawned the chest. Best done via exiting and restarting.

Finally my Solitude home has at least 25 containers I can use.

Happy looting and collecting!

Awesome!

Now I can have one chest for each of my classes of items (weapons, armour, ingredients, pots, etc, etc)!!!

Think I need to get rid of the spare bed in Breezehome to fit them in. How do I delete it?

Open Console

Select item

Type - Markfordelete

Save

Load

Poof gone

PS: a list of most spawnible items http://skyrim.mmo-game.eu/lists-furniture-containers-books/

Poof, kudos. Have been looking for that list but forgot where it was. Very good for us looters.

The spawn-proof containers are named. Well, now we'll just have to find the ID for racks and displays...

The racks and maniquins dont work properly, they are a mix of things that we cant do with just console.

Racks are two fold, you require the rack and then a seprate item to hold the item that is invisible and you cannot move it.

maniquins require scripting that we are unable to do yet. If you do manage to get these working post it! People will love you.

i spent my night adding all the necessities to the house in windhelm in the spare room!! if only i knew how to convert this into a mod i would for everybody to see...

If I knew how to do these things properly - WITHOUT - the construction kit, I would have done it myself weeks ago :-)

  • 3 weeks later...
If you haven't tried this you should. I just placed 3 chests in the house in Windhelm. Finally I have a place to put soul gems, one for items to be enchanted later, and one out in the hallway for ingot storage. You could easily use this to place a small chest on a desk or table to store jewels or gold. Many thanks to the original poster. Now I just have to locate codes for ornate chests, strongboxes, and whatever. This make setting up your crib sweet.
