mkborgelt13
Hi guys, If you have played S.T.A.L.K.E.R. you'll get what I mean right away. basically how you have to hide from blowouts, I want to do with radstorms. is there any way to detect whether a player is "hiding" during a radstorm? I.e. with something over their head, or in a culvert, etc.
tartarsauce2
there's apparently some sort of change that occurs involving happiness gained from beds being half if it's not under a roof, or at least that's what someone told me, plus there's a few times where I *thought* but couldn't tell for sure that if I was "inside" a place and the door was closed, it didn't give me rads sometimes when lightning struck (guess something about settlements and sanctuary would be good to see, I don't think rain goes through roofs does it? cause that's another way to see if or if not - this would be a good way to tell if you're hiding from the ever present all seeing monstrosity that is the world's eye, vulnerable to ghoul attacks I guess hah)one of the mods I've got, think it's truestorms, spawns ghouls during a radstorm in some places, or a lot of them by worldspace type or something, it's pretty awesome"Configurable ghoul attacks during radiation storms (chance, frequency, amount, or can be turned off completely) -- no save bloat"http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4472/?the "hiding or not" detection for this I think is just based around spawning the things and from there on it's normal gameplay mechanics that determine things but... yeahhope those help for potential pointers Edited September 14, 2016 by tartarsauce2
Moraelin
Fallout 4 has rain occlusion, meaning that it rains from holes in the roof, but not if you have something solid over your head. Doesn't have to be a house, either. Standing under a bridge offers protection too. Now I'm not sure if it's just the roof, or walls count too, or I'm just drunk, but yeah, I could swear I take less rads indoors during a radstorm. Without any mods, just vanilla. 'Course, given that I tend to run around in a full Mark VI X-01, it's somewhat hard to tell.
mkborgelt13
Huh, thanks guys, I'll try actually hiding in a drain pipe or something next time there is a radstorm, and see if I take any less rads than when outside. If this is already a thing, it wouldn't be so hard to just make you completely protected while hidden.
Moraelin
Well, if it helps, you ARE completely protected if you can go into an actual interior cell. E.g., the root cellar in Sanctuary, the rat cave under Red Rocket, or really any of the many houses and tube stations and other locations around that are separate spaces. Interior cells have no weather, so any old hospital or sewer or museum or really anything with a loading screen when you go in, is 100% protected.
