Show companion full inventory

That is the way the 'Default Outfit' works. Just have them equip a different item for the body slot. And that item will 'disappear' too, but their initial default outfit will appear in their inventory (unequipped).

For their modesty they try their best to never appear naked. Why on earth it doesn't just show the default outfit as equipped I don't know.

Equipping a different item for the body slot doesn't always work. For example, if you want to equip lacy underwear there is no way to replace the body slot.

You can try opening the console, clicking them and entering "openactorcontainer 1" without the quotes. Not sure if it'll work on companions, but won't hurt to try.

"openactorcontainer 1" does work on Companions, but it merely gives you the default inventory/item swap screen, so it still doesn't show "hidden" or default items. Some outfits use a different body slot to "clothing" and "Armor" so that they can be worn "under" them without being un-equipped, which is probably why equipping the "lace underwear' item doesn't place their default outfit into their inventory.

The only way I know of is to use the "inv" console command, which will show everything they currently have, including "hidden" items along with the ref. id You can then use the ref id to un-equip that item from them., but the game will most likely respawn the item the next time you change zones/go through a loading screen. As MasterMagnus said, the game doesn't like having "nekkid" NPC's running around :)

The game seems to respawn their defaults in any case. I have working showers and toilets installed and went to great lenghts to only leave them with their desired custom outfits so as not give them the opportunity to revert to default after showering. But tough luck. The game respawns their trash items.
