Just need some advice

So I am looking around at all the mods floating around for Skyrim and my natural curiosity cannot help but wonder...how do you get started with this. I know a little C++ and I am wanting to do something to help strengthen my coding in that area while also being fun. So why not try to code things for a game that I have spent way to much time playing. I am hoping to convert that to some productive, yet still fun, time. Any advice and pointers will be greatly appreciated. Also I am curious about the whole meshing business but I know next to nothing about graphic design. Thank you in advance.

This is the page for the GECK. The GECK was the Creation Kit for the New Vegas.. Unfortunately the Creation Kit for Skyrim will not be released until January (more likely March). The programming has been a very straightforward language (although the compiler won't tell you where the syntax errors are). I'm bringing up the GECK because it's likely to be similar in nature to the CK.

You can find the script functions for the GECK on the page I linked. Again, it's likely to retain similarity to what we'll see in the CK. If you have Fallout or Oblivion I'd recommend spending a few hours and some tutorials to be ready for the Skyrim CK. Tutorials are on the page I linked as well - really, everything you need to mod Skyrim will be on that page, short of modelling/animation/texturing.

Edit: When the CK is released, another wiki (allegedly much more comprehensive  ) will be available too.

Thank you very much, I appreciate the post. I have read the unfortunate news about the CK but I suppose it does not really effect me too much with the whole lack of experience deal. While I do not have Fallout or Oblivion (anymore) I will look into what information you have given me.

Thank you again
