BoSoxBry
Hey all, So on most loading screens, except for when I first load a save game, I seem to get an infinite loading screen. However, when I Alt-tab out and immediately go back into the game, this seems to force the game to load the area. Anyone have any ideas what may be causing this? Solomon369
Hey all, So on most loading screens, except for when I first load a save game, I seem to get an infinite loading screen. However, when I Alt-tab out and immediately go back into the game, this seems to force the game to load the area. Anyone have any ideas what may be causing this?I had this issue today, and resolved it pretty quickly. Keep in mind that mod conflicts can cause this issue, but that was not what caused it in my case. I had the loading issue, but could load if I tabbed out, and then back in. Near the Corvega Plant, and Boston, I would get crashes. For me, the issue was within my Fallout.ini and FalloutPrefs.ini files. My uGridsToLoad was set to 15, and my uExterior Cell Buffer was set to 290. First of all, that is a bit too high for my computer specs. Second, uExterior Cell Buffer must be set to the following value, or the game will have this loading bug, as well as crashes:if uGridsToLoad=13, then uExterior Cell Buffer=196=(13+1)² When you are finished fixing your .ini files, be sure to go to their properties tabs, and set them to read-only. That way, your edits will be maintained. EDIT:I fixed my .ini files, and that seemed to help, but something else that I did made the issue come back. This mod finally solved the issue for me.https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/44798 Edited August 24, 2022 by Solomon369
StormWolf01
Not to try to hijack your post, Solomon. But here's a direct link to the mod, without the Steam redirect notification. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/44798 Great information there tho, Solomon, thanks TONS for posting that!I will also add in, that a lot of mod installers, will create backups of your .ini files. Sometimes something like .ini.bak, or whatever. You can also do this manually, by copying your edited .ini file, pasting it somewhere else, and then changing the extension of the file name. This way, the game won't touch it, to overwrite your changes that you've made. And if my chance that it gets access to your modifiied file, you have a backup. (Hence... comment in sig....) loading screen times are very largely related to how fast your comp can access and process the data from your storage media. (Not entirely related. I said Largely related)If you're using mods that have like, textures, 3d objects, and other types of files that can get rather large, and they're packed into a ba2 (archive file) that can slow you down.It could also be some of your PC's buffering ability or settings. But... brain getting sleepy... too technical to process.... *Blue screen of death* Tabbing out Does work pretty good sometimes tho! Photoshop lags me, on opening some of the pics I work with. Lag lag lag, tab out. Click back in a few seconds later, and Voila!
