A player home..

As I'm currently in the middle of building my own achievable player home/base, I was wondering .. what do you look for in your home?

Is it the easy storage? Or 'cuz it looks cool? Or is it a nice feature you haven't see before?

Does your home needs to be lore-friendly? Do you prefer to achieve it through a "quest" and some moderate fighting?

I'm just wondering what makes player homes stand out for people as there's so many around to start with .. So if you could post something in short what you prefer: storage / location / achievable / followers / new content .. that'd be awesome :)

Oh and for a quick teaser preview .. click here

The security room .. Alpha of an alpha of an alpha ;p

I look for everything you mentioned. I'm big on lore friendly mods but not all people are. Its also good for the place to have a story, like what is it doing there and who's was it before the courier moved in.

Same as thrill606. I would like it more if it's spacey. Tight space makes me dizzy for some reason. Maybe cause my mouse sensitivity is too high? A nice feature to have Weapon racks/stands/walls, like the ones in Skyrim.

Hope it's released soon! It looks really good. :)

requirements

1 - only 1 loading screen between the real world and your storage/bed - most have 2+++ loading screens

2 - at or very near a fast travel point - either provide a new travel point or place strategically

3 - indoor cooking - campfire, working stove or hotplate

4 - convenient storage - must be arranged for ease of use - or have auto-sorting functionality

5 - Craft table and reloading bench - with storage directly connected to each (either over or next to) - who wants to walk around for that one needed piece for the project

6 - "well rested" bed - some house mods don't have this

7 - possibly - room for trophies -- think armor mannequins from Oblivion

quest is nice, but remember you most need a safe house when you are a very low level character - so the quest should not be too demanding

so you could make parts of this "upgrades"

I like a lack of convenience in your home. It makes sense to cook at home, but it really doesn't make sense to have a personal water purifier, at least in my opinion.

I like having to need to leave my house and go get something my house needs, too. Making my house have a continued cost through sustained habitation feels right to me. I'd even like little mini-events where something about my house breaks and I have to fix it. Something like that.

@x3Darkie

.. trust me, it's quite spacey ..

@Fonger

Useful input, thanks..

Though, considering the size of the complex, it'll most likely be like 3 loading screens .. though I suppose someone could beta-test it and give me some pointers when the time comes.

As for the quest .. it's not really hard, just have to look around and use your brain a bit .. no handholding through a marker either though.

@Ashven

That's actually quite interesting .. I already plan to set it up that you can unlock different areas as the "quest" progresses, but that's a good idea too.

Haha .. Abandoned research facility/outpost actually ;p

1 for the "cover entrance" and then to the entrance to the actual base.

The "main level" (security room, command center, sleeping area, kitchen, clinic, armory, workplace) and then the "research level" (mainframe/library, reactor, theoretical weapon research, observatory, couple of holding cells, etc.)

So yeah .. quite an undertaking .. haha .. especially since it's my first time I do a "location/interior" mod ..

An Enclave Facility preferably underground, remove all space for Small guns Energy and Big guns only. High tech facility with a Medical Lab, Armory (Obviously) Barracks for Followers, The texture flow should be something of a combination of the ones used in the Remnants Bunker and Big MT facilities, and to make it more lively add some troops to the barracks and scientists around the facility. Along with some turrents, should have a lot of Enclave posters and Posieden Energy posters aswell as i think it should be located in Helios One maybe have a quest for the Enclave to reclaim the plant and clean/secure it aswell as fortify it

Heh, as much as I appreciate your enthusiasm, that might be a little too much.. I'm still a far way from completing anything .. I've finished the shack, security room, a corridor, almost done with the command center .. then the sleeping area .. already did some small work on the armory ..

I also kinda want to keep it as lore-friendly as possible, so I'm afraid there's no troops in the base, but I will *eventually* make it follower friendly .. And as much as I like Old World Blues, I'll be keeping the requirement for FalloutNV.esm only .. Maybe I'll make an optional file that includes Old World Blues stuff, but that's a long way from here..

Maybe I'll add an option *very much later on* for adding some staff at the facility .. we'll see .. :) (Also depends on how good of a scripter I find to help me out with certain things ;p)
