greekrage
Hi all.. Ive recently released a mega mod known as spectacle island reborn. I did have to remove several ambushes cause they were in the build zone but i put the mod through a filter and un-deleted and disabled any refrences. The problem is that even though settlers come they dont move from their spots unless i use the bell somewhere and they come there. When assigned a job they agree etc.. but dont move from their spot. Before anyone says anything about nav mesh etc... trust me its 100% nav meshed and tested. I left the vanilla markers etc and didnt touch the quest as much as i could (except for the ambushes and patrol markers that they were linked to ). What am i missing ?? Btw me and only one guy out of all most 300 total users have the issue. Im thinking a mod conflict of some sort but if you guys have any suggestions please say so.. FiftyTifty
You have to add the proper markers 'n' link them to the placed workbench. Follow this guide. http://stuyk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=
speedynl
it have nothing to do with markers, he knows how to set up a settlement(he should by now :D) , its just a random thing greek i have it sometimes to, last time it was a provider, she just din't move but in the next new game she moved like intended, same for settlers, most of the time it resolve it self after leaving the cell and or fast travel from x to x and back(but not always), its like the other "bug", when they just wander off to xx and come back after sometime, prolly 1 of the many settlements bug this sucky game have Edited September 17, 2016 by speedynl
FiftyTifty
Nah man, I had the same issue with me own custom workshop. Settlers wouldn't do anything; couldn't assign them 'n' their packages didn't work. I was missing a couple of the mandatory settlement markers, and voila, problem solved. Just needs ta follow that guide and it'll work.

I made a version of the mod with ALL settlement aspects of the location DISABLED and re did the parent quest with new markers (except the coc and map marker ) and it works fine now.for a settlement to work here is the list of items i use now,,, 1) map marker 2)workshopworkbench 3)default empty trigger 4)set owned trigger (very important for scrapping and triggers the ownership hence no need for init quest). 5) workshop resource container 6) xmarker heading (center marker) 7) xmaker heading ( settlement name marker ) 9) xmarker heading (out of sight marker ) 10)xmarker heading ( workshop spawn marker) NO border..............................Location data encounter zone Parent quest No initialization quest and thats it... greekrage
One thing bothers me though.. I have the out of sight marker inside the default trigger area because its an island and the build area has areas that are surrounded by water forcing me to make the sandbox even bigger and contain the ocean so logically i cant have a marker in the ocean. What exactly does the out of sight marker do ?Do settlers spawn there ?Or is it for random attack spawns ?? Question : is it out of "sight " or "site " cause if its "site" then the meaning would be out of the relevant build zone correct ?? If someone with relevant knowledge can tell us what each marker does it would really help to understand what we are doing and why are we doing it.Its ok to have set of directions on how to set up a settlement but the thing i need is WHY we do this and that. The WHY we do certain things would help us understand and create our own methods and workarounds for situations that arent "normal" . The " how to " by blah and stuyk is for a new location in a wilderness not a location with settlement aspects all ready set. speedynl
never use out of sight(only use attack/center/spam), and i have no idea wat the marker do, if you look a the official settlements you will see they have a buildedge marker to, some have only 1 others more btw for the out of sight bla added that 1 because some 1 mention that it was 1 of the keywords as for wat the markers exactly do, center is like the name say its the center point of the location/settlement, spam/attack 1 of the 2 decite where the settlers spam i think it was attack, if so no clue wat the other do, maybe its ment for settlements attack, but in the end the only thing that matter if that it works like intended( if i remember right i had a set running without the markers to wb showed 50%) not tested if everything worked like intended but wat do i know i'm just a n00b
BlahBlahDEEBlahBlah
Out of sight, if you use and set up the way I do, is for attackers.Spawn, same as above, is for settlers.IIRC! Why put them "out of sight"? Do you want to see npc's materialize out of thin air? ;-) IIRC, the system will use one for both spawn and attackers if only one exists. Just like the system will use first primative is available (or workbench radius if no primatives at all) if none are specified specifically as "build'able area". Build edge...now that, yeah, that one I have no idea about...it's not necessary either way. Out Of Sight was in the list from the beginning, I believe...I think I believe, at least...it was meant to be, for sure. I had a choice between 2 assumptions. Assuming there were some of the objects in the location the modder was going to use, or assuming there were none of the objects in the location the modder wanted to use. I chose the latter assumption. Let's put this to bed right now. Building a settlement is the opposite from, say, building a gun. Unlike a gun, it's easier/less confusing to start from scratch with a settlement. Setting up a settlement in a pre-existing location can have many variables and is definitely the more advanced process and was never going to be talked about in a "basics" list. Answering questions of a more advanced nature (which Speedy and others have done a good job with) about preexisting locations were always going to be in the reply posts to the topic. FiftyTifty
The out of sight marker is where enemies will be spawned. The center marker is where settlers will gravitate to when they're first spawned.

The center marker is where settlers will gravitate to when they're first spawned.I knew I had it backwards. Should have looked and verified. =(I read that wrong, I was right the first time. =P Edit: attackers head to the center also, by the by. It's also where you'll find everyone all gathered around when you fast travel in sometimes.
