justwannaddl
I just wanted to know which houses people used as their HQ and if any of the spouse's homes are worth crashing in instead. So far I only have the Archmage Quarters and Breezehome but they feel relatively tiny compared to the opulence I'm used to in Oblivion. Frostcrag Spire, Battlehorn Castle and Deepscorn Hollow kinda spoiled me. I don't mind marrying a goat if it nets me a beautiful home on the scale of those places. Lutine
Try the house you can buy in Solitude. I forgot the name, but at three stories tall and a value of 25,000 gold, it's the largest(And most expensive) home in Skyrim. bpestilence
The problem is that you are comparing vanilla Skyrim to Oblivion DLC. Oblivion's vanilla houses were small. Remember trying to buy a house in the Imperial City only to find out that it was a shack on the waterfront? Rosethorn Hall was the best vanilla house and it is smaller, and more poorly lighted, than Breezehome. If we can assume that Bethesda likes money, then we can assume that specialized homes will appear soon as Skyrim DLC.
justwannaddl
Funny, Rosethorn felt bigger and brighter than Breezehome to me. Admittedly, the vanilla homes in general were smaller on average in oblivion but I'd swear you could get more of them. How does solitude's house compare? I have enough for riften or windhelm but I'll need to keep saving for Solitude.

Only two manniquins there, also. I like Windhelm (Hjerim) better. Lots of cases and places to hang stuff, plus 3 manniquins.
