Seviche's Rules for Roleplaying

Average adult only needs 6 hours (minimum), any less and you will become sleep deprived, no matter how much caffeine you have :P

Everything depends on whether you're "average" or not. ;D

Some people sleep three to four hours a night and are not sleep deprived. Others can barely function if they don't get seven hours.

IMO nine hours is a lot. Six is definitely a more reasonable number.

No hes not failing, actually doing a good job of trying to get available realism before the true realism mods that can really change the game mechanics come out. Anyways, Kudos on the pre-CK realism guide Seviche. I hope someone manages to pack all these rules and more (like enforced sleep, unless youve downed a bucket of skooma), into a mod when the CK is eventually relased :) Edited by MadWizard25

That's sensible but nine hours is way too much. I don't know about you but I never sleep more than 6 hours in real life. ;)

To be fair you're probably not lifting armour and fighting with swords 12 hours a day.

When I was working landscaping/construction there was no way I could function on 6 hours of sleep, my body would shut down.

I do agree with "no fast travel" but the rest is debatable (and ofc a matter of personal preferences) .

Horses are cool but if it comes to a spontaneous combat situation they die too quick. Equipment like ring and necklace are a must for me as mage only character. Same with heavy armor; wearing no armor melee mobs tend to 1-s me and without my enchanted gear I'm running OOM fast.

What I really would like to see (i know we have to wait for the CK) is the ability to make a camp, like a fireplace and maybe even a tend with a bed. Also a good companion (script, appearance, dialogue including a romance option etc. :P ) would be awesome. Missing this parts as in Morrowind and Oblivion.

Cheers Euclid

Most scientific studies refer to a general minimum of 6 hours sleep. There is a minority who require less to feel 'refreshed and awake', which is the result of having enough sleep. It's very debatable so I take your criticism constructively :)

If you don't sleep enough, your body won't be able to repair itself properly and you will be worn down day by day. Not really an argument there, just a statement of fact. Don't sleep enough, you will crash eventually.

Also...I'm finding it hard to RP a Mage now...At lvl 46 with 100 in nearly all magic schools, what the hell do I do. My lightning storm spell, I can literally drain an Elder Dragon's HP on Master Difficulty in a few seconds... I need to definitely mod my game with something to nerf my character lol!

I see some cool ideas for a hardcore mod in this thread (food, drink and sleep in the spirit of FNV) but the truth is we don't need a mod to apply most of these gameplay changes. All it takes is the willingness to follow some guidelines and self-imposed rules. Making your character eat and sleep from time to time is really a simple and easy thing to do.

There is no need for a "no fast travel" mod. If (like me) you don't like fast travel all you have to do is to ignore that feature and not use it. It's as simple as that.

I don't think many people are fighting with swords 12 hours a day. ;)

True anyone will eventually crash. It depends on your physical activity and your general condition (among other things). It'd probably take more than a regular workout session to be that exhausted and I don't think people are running marathons every day. Hard work is hard work, that's true but the thing about work is that you can get used to it. You still get tired of course but your body learns to cope with it after a while so eventually you end up handling it better.

That's where some of the ideas presented in this thread may help. Although to be honest I think that once you've maxed out a skill your character can be considered as having become so competent that challenges are much harder to come by. Maybe it's time to start over and try something completely different.

What is your goal with these rules?

If you are trying to make the game more realistic you are failing

Care to clarify? I mean, besides my not removing all those dragons that tend to take the realism out of the game.... :whistling:

Seviche: Thank you for the well thought out and well written guide.

I actually may try to complete the game like this. It definitely would be interesting and add a certain level of depth. It would be nice if some one made a "pack mule mod" where you have a secondary horse who follows you around for the sole reason of transporting goods.

Don't bother listening to naysayers. Some people just can't understand how others can derive enjoyment out of things that they don't.... like necromancy

By the way...You do know that the word seviche is the name of excellent latin dish right?

I ignore naysayers unless they're saying something worthwhile. Criticism is good except when it's not.

Oh yes. Well aware. It's a remnant from my WoW days actually. Most of the names I wanted for my characters were taken so I ended up naming most of my characters after soups and soup-like dishes. Confused the heck out of my guild-mates, that's for sure. Especially as most of them were from the east coast and had no idea what the heck a "Seviche" or a "Gazpacho" was. Good times, good times.

Well, good luck! It's not for the timid. Let me know how it turns out for you.
