Yeah I'v been trying to work on a fallout version of the mars rover, that's why I made this little guy. I still need to make the tracks wider, and there's detail work on lining up the claws that needs to be finished. Plus I'll probably re-texture him, once we decide what colors and logo to use for the researchers. That might be a special corps (ie gov sponsored) or a commercial logo (private funding). devinpatterson Posted January 10, 2012 Author Share Posted January 10, 2012 (edited) Hey Guy's, Looks like i was able to actually able to use a plane Metal Plating Texture, clean it up a bit and it made a perfect cover for the building so i already got the terminals looking Sci Fy'ish will just have to work on ground textures now :P Looks good, but you don't have to use the steel plates. In gimp just copy one of the unbroken windows then paste it over each broken window on the dss. There may be mars textures in the public domain (from flyby simulations and what have you) on NASA's site. Failing that, I think the textures & landscape meshes in honest hearts would be a close match, and relatively easy to re-texture (in case you wanted to change the shade of red). The McCarran Terminal could be a possible location of the space port/air control base that the space ghouls/zombies inhabit. It's conceivable that the vacuum could be an additional play mechanic/challenge. For example, if you are required to wear a space suit, obviously you don't have armor (unless you have the mars environmental hazard suit, which is essentially a mid to lightly armored pressure suit). But the big obstacle is actually damage to the suit. When the space suit is reduced to 0 health, you loose your oxygen (ie you die). I'm assuming that since armor can't be equipped when it's broken, the water breathing effect would also cease to function). Might make for a tough location.... NASA is a public sector organization and the only thing you must do to use their pictures is to give credit. This material should be non-objectionable, so as long as you don't paint a huge anus on Mars, it should be okay. And Bethesda has already used pictures of Mars. revap Posted January 10, 2012 Share Posted January 10, 2012 (edited) i am by no means a texture guru :D i can use the Geck pretty well but thats about as far as my skills go. im a web dev so all the photoshop and imaging skills i do have dont relate to making textures for games, especially the whole Seamless thing :P Would be awesome if one of you could make some HD ground textures for mars and pass them on by, i figured the way to mars would be a space shuttle so the landing area has to be like a space port, and that's currently what im making. Partially done with the main buildings in the main Exterior World Map called "Mars Basin" going to be rocky on the Edges with the only way of getting out of the Crater that the base is in being a tunnel. Also on a side note, does anyone have an idea to sorta catch the Mars Sky into a Skybox and get some good Space type Lighting effects? this is probably going to be the hardest part for me.
