Mage without enchant 'abuse'?

I'd like to add to the discussion about mana regen, that in my experience, it is more useful to have a higher mana pool and reduction to spell costs than mana regen in general. The main reason is because while you are casting mana doesn't regen. If you have to cast quickly over and over without any breaks, then mana regen is useless. It is still nice to have some, of course for the times you duck out of a fight. But in general spell cost reduction and a beefier mana pool (if you don't max spell cost reduction) is better.

I am a bit thorned on this one because i want to avoid having 100% reduction on, say, destruction spells and the way to impose this restriction is probably to stay away from enchantning. I'ts funny though, how the Skyrim Guide handbook states that you should try to max your mana regeneration. I don't question you, i know it's broken. It's a shame

I am level 9 btw and boy my spells do little damage.. Using destruction, illusion, restoration and conjuration. Wearing robes, no armour. Gonna need that mage armour perk in alteration i think. Conjuration skill skyrocket in comparison with the other constellations. I think it's 40 now.

Thanks!

I'm playing a similar game, but without conjuration.

I'm on level 15 (Adept) and still only get through the tuff fights by doing a Jesse Owens until my magicka recovers.

I've taken enchanting, but I'm yet to create anything more powerful that what you get doing the mage college quests.

I thought I'd be doing it easier by now, the same mage with an occasional sword would romp it in.
