They all have some pretty obnoxious reaction spam. Like the one where they have to have to whinge every time you pick up some loot. First of all, MacCready, I've never made you carry anything except a gun that doesn't suck, and second, what makes you think I'd let you even touch my mint condition Jangles the Moon Monkey.

"Lady, I'm a zoophhiliac. It's not my fault you have an arse like a brahmin."

That ought to shut her up, I figure.

Edit: but on a more serious note, why not get another companion instead? It's not like her perk is even THAT essential.

They all get pretty tiresome in their comments after a time. Personally I think Ada is the worst with McGready coming in a close second.

Oh, edit, because I almost never used Danse or Preston. Their stick up the arse attitude beats them all.

The best is obviously dog, since he doesn't run his trap.

The dog just STAYS in the MF way all the time. They are all annoying. I send the girls to whatever home base I have and use 'em for dress up dolls and leave the guys where I found 'em. I do get a giggle out of shooting preston in the head every time he gets smarmy with me about his damn quests.

What ya gonna do huh?

If you want the perks but not the aggravation try this . . . http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/15598/?

Actually, if you want a silent partner, the best is a custom robot. Don't turn their personality mode on, or better yet, pick Assaultron or Sentry voice which don't HAVE a personality, and they'll only comment in combat about attacking.

Even better, NPCs don't comment about them either. You can walk through Diamond City or Goodneigbour or whatever, and nobody says a peep about them. It's like they're invisible.

And unlike the dog, these guys can pack MASSIVE firepower. Just make a MrHandy, 2 arms with gatlings, jet instead of legs, 3 lower arms with buzzsaws, and voltaic armour everywhere you can. Owns everything with extreme prejudice.

Fun random fact: the Handy has the combat style in the TORSO, not the eye/head. And it has the EXACT same range and accuracy and everything else as the robobrain head.

Preston's safely stored at Red Rocket as the only inhabitant. Not even the rubble is removed. A water pump, a dirty matress and some crop and have fun there, Preston. No driveby quests, since I never come visit after Old Guns.

They can be, but I don't have the perks for the real goodies as of yet.

Not sure what perks those would be.

Be that as it may, though, they can have better armour and HP than the dog will ever have, and the firepower to take down a behemoth all alone. And even more so with some mods. (E.g., can I interest you in shotgun miniguns for your robot?) I'll just call it the "everything just dies" perk

Works for me, is all I'm saying.

Oh, right, I had misunderstood that. You don't need any perks for robot parts, mate.

Just like any other mods (weapons, armour, etc) you don't need any perk to install a mod that you have in your inventory. You need perks to MAKE a new mod, but none to install it. E.g., you can just take a silencer off a weapon that dropped, and you don't need any skills to just screw it on your own favourite weapon. Same for robots.

And you find more than enough robots in the Commonwealth to get all the robot parts you migth ever need. Each robot drops one part. If all else fails, you can just grind Rogue Robot, which is guaranteed to have some 3-4 robots to kill and loot for parts.

Plus you should have gotten a crapload of them in the Automatron arc anyway. Nuka World's galactic zone should also have given you a whole bunch of space robot parts.
