The workbbenches ARE contaienrs, whose contents are linked to the workshop. No need to add your own container. You can just take it all from the workbench and put it back in the workbench.

And the advantage of keeping stuff in the workshop is that your settlers or attackers don't loot those during a fight. Whereas otherwise some wise-ass can loot your fatman and mininukes right out of your locker, and break your water pump and half the crops with it. Granted, I've never seen them loot mods, though.

But putting a dedicated chest there has the advantage of not having to browse through all the junk being in there to find what you need. I do the same with power armor.

Well, there is that, but PA pieces fall under "apparel", which is pretty awful to sort through. Here I have no real problem with just taking everything under "Mods".

Plus the list to sort through tends to stay somewhat small-ish, since

A) most mods I don't really want to keep for later anyway. I don't like stuff like protectron arms (you get two when you make a new robot anyway), or protectron legs, or wimpy default barrels for guns, etc, and

B) mods are the most profitable in caps per pound to haul to the nearest ammo vendor anyway.

So personally I don't leave all much that stuff in the Mods tab to sort through later. Most gets sold. Most of what's in there is robot parts, and the rest is pretty obvious.

Still, if putting another container there works better for you, by all means, go for it.
