dyfed99
Well.. or, to put it better, ..bad! :( Got a new copy of Oblivion, installed it along with SI and KOTN and the unofficial patches for the first time after long time yesterday and no problems. Today I've installed OBMM and OBSE plus some animation mods, Bomret's redimized Qarl's III and SI tex replacers plus BTQ Landscape lods and thenceforth Oblivion won't start anymore! Every time I got this message while the starting: 'The instruction at "0x0058dc7c" did referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read".' (more or less) Then I've uninstalled everything and reinstalled just Oblivion plus the expansions and, again, no luck.. but the message was : 'The instruction at "0x00582604" did referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read".' :verymad: Uninstalled it again and reinstalled just Oblivion.. same luck and same message.. :wallbash: Any idea? Maybe a memory fault? (note.. I've disabled every non-essential service/process, using Sysinternals Process Explorer, including the Antivirus)
bben46
You say you got a new copy, does that mean you were replacing an old copy? if so, you may need to go back and uninstall the old one completely, including the files in the my documents folder and the entries in the registry. see the pinned topic on uninstalling for a step by step procedure. The Oblivion Uninstall does not really uninstall Oblivion, only the parts in the Bethesda/Oblivion directory. Then when you do reinstall, start with just the Oblivion CD. test it after install. If you are going to install SI & KOTN, do not do any upgrades to the vanilla Oblivion. go ahead and install SI, then do the SI patch only. this patches you to the latest revision. then install KOTN. that is the way I did it 2 weeks ago when I tired of how buggy mine was getting. Then, after playing for a half hour, and I knew it was working. I backed up the new Oblivion.ini and the saved games folder with the one saved game from the end of the sewers, I reinstalled my saved Oblivion.ini and saved games from before. - You did back those up didn't you? dyfed99
I deleted Oblivion about 6 months ago and I've reinstalled it correctly the first time. I mean it ran well and I've installed both SI and KOTN expansions along with their Unofficial patches. But yesterday, after I've installed Bomret's tex replacers and some animations it doesn't start anymore! I've deleted it, it and any occurrence of it even registry's keys related to Oblivion, Bethesda, Shivering, OBMM and Obse, then I've reinstalled it several times but it won't work.Though sometimes I'm beginning to get any error messages related to explorer.exe or other background apps similar to those I got while running Oblivion. So I'm guessing my OS installation could be corrupted (maybe any virus or any bad software I've installed, who knows), or, maybe, my RAM is going bad.. bben46
Post your error messages, maybe someone here will know what they refer to.
dyfed99
I've already posted them in the #1 post.
bben46
Sorry about that. I looked at your error messages and like I was afraid, they are meaningless to me. I hope someone else can be more helpful.
TheTerminator2004
You say in the OP that you installed OBSE... have you tried running it without OBSE? Those errors sound like the kind of thing it would cause...
dyfed99
Yes I did it! But as said above those messages aren't related to an installation oblivion related cause I'm getting them even I don't run any software at all. Plain explorer.exe faults they seem or of any background service as DDE server or others.
wizardmirth
You did what? Get it to run without OBSE? I've had this same type of message happen on occassion, specifically when I first installed AWS and then later after starting to mod with the CS and do testing with the CS open. In between those two points I got OBSE 9 and only ugraded when 13 came out. This only seemed to happen a few times during the beginning of the two points and usually if I hit cancel or continue Oblivion will still load like normal and I didn't have to sacrifice OBSE or any mods to do it. I don't know if this is of any use to you, but there it is just in case.
dyfed99
I don't know what's really happened. Now Oblivion start without any problem. I guess it was a problem related to Wrye Bash though because it started to run again after I've deleted any occurrence of it (I forgot this in a first time..)
