Zyvexal
Hi guys, I recently created a second character on skyrim, and upon arrival of whiterun, I talked to Ysolda but could not receive the mammoth tusk quest. I remember on my first character she had a third dialogue option which would lead to her asking you for a mammoth tusk, but on the second character that option was not there at all. Is there any reason for this? Thanks in advance.
Zehryo
Your lvl? Maybe that quest appears only when you're over a certain lvl.....well, mammoths are not pussycats! No, seriously, try talking to her in different moments of the day.
Zyvexal
I tried that, I tried talking to her in her home, in the marketplace, and in the bannered mare tavern (which was the place i got the quest before on my first character). And I doubt it's due to the level, since my second character is now a higher level than my first.
Brandy1123
when I had similar issues, I opened up the console and fixed it that way. Use the "~" key (no quotes) then click the person you want to affect. Once the Hex code shows up, type resurrect and enter. This respawns the NPC and for me, reset the broken quest that never showed up. Be warned, this can have bad effects. Expecially if you have not clicked the right place. It also can break present quest lines. So, make sure you back up your game before using any console commands.

Aressdubleyou
Are you a Khajiit? I don't think she will give the quest to a Khajiit.
thesapien
Silly question, but to be sure, you did ask her about her wanting to be a merchant first, right? If so, I've got nothing. Oh, wait, here's something afterward, if you fix the problem: You don't have to kill a mammoth if you don't want to or are afraid to. There's a mining camp like NW of Whiterun that has like six tusks in there, though you'll have to kill the bandits camped there.
