Recommended mods for a newbie

Hi, I've been modding oblivion recently, been finding some really good stuff, but there are a few things I wanted that seemed to elude me, either because I wasn't certain a mod did or didn't do what I wanted due to lack of screenshots or something similar, or I just couldn't find it.

I was wondering what mods are out there for armor and weapons, for male and female(mind you not the ones that make her look like a prostitute, some people like that and to each his own but I'm not one of those people, it ruins immersion for me), any mods that will make the npc's look less ugly, I've seen a few like Natural Faces, but I'm looking for a mod that will make all the original races of Oblivion look a lot better, because mods like HGEC shows us that it's not the engine that limits vanilla Oblivion PC's and NPC's to such ugly looking characters, and it's perfectly possible to have them look good.

I'd probably enjoy Oblivion more if the only ugly NPC's were the orcs

Also...any mod like Unnecessary Violence, I really like what II does, but it's too complicated for me(I was never good at a lot of fighting games like Mortal Kombat), I likely would have preferred UN I, so is there anything out there that is...easier to use?

I hope you guys don't mind the noob questions...though I'm going to be annoyed by anyone flaming me because they think I didn't use google or anything because that wouldn't be true, I'm asking more because I'm not certain some of what I'm asking for even exists

I'm no good with offering suggestions regarding armour and major overhauls, but when it comes to NPCs and their inherent ugliness I highly recommend Xeo. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22787

I wouldn't play without it. It's not entirely to everyone's taste and some of the males can look a bit...er...'wrong'. But compared to the ugly vanilla characters, it's 100% nicer.

And, while I'm not much of an amour user, I do love this set http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37503 It's not over-the-top, but it is very attractive.

TNR( tamriel NPCS revamped) makes the NPCs better looking, but also apropriate to their age, race, situation, and character. (ie: old people don't become beauty queens) most of the other mods that alter faces ignore immersion and just try to make every one look like porn stars.

Combat, maybe try Duke Patricks melee mod. it's a bit more stable and strategic.. UV and DR are more examples of people experimenting and trying to implement as many complex things as possible.

Here's my generic written thing for these topics. if you want something specific give more details. I ask some questions in the below text as a small guide line. You can answer them if you wish:

If you want any further help I suggest you tell us about yourself; what you like and what you're looking for... Here's some questions to get you started:

Have you played Oblivion already?

What sort of things interest you?

What type of Character do you usually play? (good/evil, theif/mage, roleplayer/random-no-story-hack-and-slasher?)

Are there specific types of mods you think would interest you? (Quests, graphic mods, gameplay mods, overhauls, etc.)

When did you leave?

What did you not like about Oblivion? What did Oblivion not have or need more of?

Male or female character?

For the occasional "What are your must haves?"

I'm mostly a quest mod player and I recently posted a big rundown for most of them that I've played here and here.

(Some of these are probably outdated by now)

S'lider's Copy/paste

SkyRanger-1's

Pseron Wyrd's top 10 (Don't really want a lot top 10's or simple lists but I'm desperate for cop/pastes at the moment)

races find yourself, if you like. My favourite Elves of Lineage IIcause there are some fine modifications you find if you search them on tesnexus.

If you are a good modder and not afraid of japanese Stuff you can take MBP for better looking People. You need:

Part 2: http://www.mediafire.com/?btbltetats6ozti

Part 3: http://www.mediafire.com/?zi06bi0xj8l2i07

then you probably need a animation replacer http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35551

and now You have a fine person walking through Oblivion.

for better athmosphere I suggest

If you don't like leveling system try oblivion war cry,( english translation) and only the boss monsters will level up.

and a more realistic leveling system

female clothing Rhyks work http://www.zodiac.o0o0.jp/rayk/ryk_mod_etc.html

and nicos work http://www.tesnexus.com/modules/members/index.php?id=64989

for better looking Horses http://www.slofslair.co.uk/index.php?page=modarticle&modarticle/id=5p5k6md28n8

my most liked housemod or have a look to Real estate

companionmods: Vilja , Saerilet

, blade song and a mod I adore but cant really use because its from Japan

You personalize your game by taking your favourite mods. No other one plays the same game.

Oblivion is in my opinion the most and best modded game in the world.

If you mean sex as an adult theme you better look on Lovers lab. Here is little more than Etruus, chain beast, Sexlivion and Claudias little secrets.

Best quests you find in hot 100

One little hint at last. Do not put in all mods at once. Go step by step and test, test, test.

Don't forget ;)

have fun
