[CTD] Around Riverwood, possible NPC/item?

So I keep having this fluctuating issue with my current game. I've restarted over and over, ran through, ran through with all mods activated (Frostfall enabled etc), ran through with no mods activated through MCM. Each time I keep getting this random CTD. Sometimes I can make it to the standing stones outside Riverwood, sometimes I CTD instantly when leaving the Tavern in riverwood, if I wait between 2-6 hours inside the Riverwood Tavern then when the game catches up, I CTD. I CTD sometimes when I run to Alvor's Blacksmithing section.

 

However I can go through the whole of Whiterun exterior and interior perfectly fine?

 

So after deleting tons of mods, fiddling round with the memory extender patch thing, I've boiled it down to either, a highly popular mod with no reports of CTD is CTDing me. Or there is an NPC who my game refuses to display and would rather rage quit than render his/her face.

 

So I've turned to you lovely people to see if you can lend me a hand. Here goes!

Nevermind, Just tried out this new load order. Thank you so much to Project, everything was faceplanting due to the load orders.

 

For any other folks who stumble across this thread with the same problem:

 

Don't rely on LOOT too heavily. Use the guide Project has referred to in their post and do it by hand.

In my experience, crashes in and around Riverwood and approaching the stones from either the normal Helgen start or the Hunter in the Woods start with Alternate Start - Live Another Life can be quite common for all sorts of reasons with a heavily modded game.

 

But I have to agree that I have never found LOOT to be of any use at all. BOSS worked SO much better. LOOT seems incredibly sensitive to mod version and date, even if that mod is still compatible with the latest USKP et al or USLEEP, and puts things in what I KNOW are the completely wrong place, and even arranges my own mods so they get overridden by Mods I intended to be overridden by the Mods I made myself.

 

I keep a copy of my last know good, working loadorder.txt and plugins.txt in a spreadsheet and use that to restore my mod list when LOOT scrambles it randomly, and any new mods I try I always read the author's notes and work out where it should go myself.

you rebuilt the skyproc patches after changing the load order?

 

Alternate Start - Live Another Life.esp this and its patches always need to be at the end of the load order before the skyproc patches.
