diosoth
I'm setting up a fresh install copy with mTES4 to run another game once I'm done with my current playthrough. It'll be my chance to try out HGEC along with various other mods I don't currently run in my Exnem copy. And I want to go custom class instead of the existing ones. I prefer weapons to magic and lean towards heavy armor so I've been picking the Warrior class, but I never use hand to hand or blunt weapons, and don't mess with destruction magic. I prefer blades with bows as backup and favor enchanted weapons to magic, or if necessary a decent staff such as Apotheosis. So I'll likely want blade, marksman, restoration, and sneak as 4 of my main skills. Probably athletics as the 5th. I do not know the 6th and 7th. I also don't totally understand the specialization and favored skill attributes- I've read UESP's entry on custom classes, and much of it reads like a technical manual. Do I pick skills I'll use or skills I don't use often? If I pick ones I don't use as often they'll level faster when they are used, at the cost of leveling faster(I run with OOO so the vanilla leveling system doesn't apply here and leveling fast isn't very costly in terms of fighting enemies). I also have no idea what to pick for 6 and 7. I may also run one of those training limit uncappers that let you train more than 5 skills per level via trainers, though as I'm running OOO the costs go up so much that at low levels I'll probably not be able to afford more than 5 anyway. Though despite my leaning towards heavy armor, I may pick light armor as a major skill, seeing as I mainly prefer to use mod-made armor over the vanilla stuff and it'd let me mix and match if both armor skills are equal. That's assuming I don't somehow screw it up, so I could use some other advice and tips before I go messing with the custom classes.
Nephenee13
Just forget it and install OblivionXP. The Vanilla leveling system is terrible for so many reasons.
ponyboy10
In the custom class creator, you just pick the 2 major attributes, then the 7 major skills, and that's it. It was actually pretty easy. I picked the skills I wanted to use the most. Yes, they get leveled up more during normal play, but there are some I still haven't used yet. You might've seen this already, but here is decent page that talks about vanilla leveling: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Leveling
