Skyrim and Steam?

As far as I understand it if I buy the hard copy of the game it requires validation on steam - does this mean I cannot re-sell my disc without providing the person with my steam account? Are there any other disadvantages to downloading the game via steam (if I can resell it with a hard copy) or should I just go ahead? Only reason I ask is that my computer specs only just meet the recommended specs and I'm worried the game will run awfully and don't want to flush 35 quid down the drain for that.

Only console gamers can resell games again and again, PC gamers can't

Steam DL version doesn't really have any downsides, except for the downloading and not having the nice box.

Also, do you have Fallout 3 / NV or Oblivion? If you can run those on hghest settings, you will be almost certainly able to run Skyrim, even tho maybe not on High/Ultra.

If you have those concerns then maybe hold off for a bit longer.

wait till next year when its hopefully more stable.

Hmm between wasting 30 quid and waiting a year I think I'd waste 30 quid but thanks for the advice. I do have Oblivion and I'm able to run that on ultra setting, so you think Skyrim would be fine?

Yeah, I think so, Skyrim on high actually runs smoother for me than Obli on Ultra. Not including glitches / CTDs.

And it seems to be running on almost anything if you can deal with playing on low. Even my old laptop managed that. Doesn't look quite so nice as the High on PC tho.

See? all you needed was that gentle push from someone telling you not to.....to then, go ahead and part with your hard earned.

Anyway 'next year' is like, 3 weeks away.

Mine says im running on ultra...though i sometimes doubt it. I have turned down all settings slightly anyway.

I think if you get it, it should chug along on medium with a decent fps.

Oh, my hint... If you'll play on medium/tweaked high and will feel like it's not very smooth, tun on FXAA and distable AA. You won't see that big difference in quality, but for me it did +10 FPS on average, and from what I see and hear, it works for most people.

Also if you play with mouse and keyboard, turn off controller in settings, or you'll have control lag.

If you'll have bad stutter in interiors with fog, tone down shadow detail (I know, doesn't look that logical) and also ENB patch (find on Nexus) tends to help a lot.

That's about it, good luck
