(Simply) Modular Housing Poll

If you all are feeling interested in voting in this poll, I'd appreciate it.

Vote Here

If you like the current system, Complexity is the vote for you.

If you want a different faster system with less objects to stack, simplicity is what you would vote for.

If you have never used Modular Housing you can find it here.

Looking for general opinion on build times, preference, etc.

I voted simple, the thing is, if I really wanted complex, I can use something like any of the major settlement mods. Great in theory, in practice, however I tend to restart my game often. So I would much rather have a really nice starting point, and put the finishing touches myself.

Hell, if there was an option I'd have an entire neighborhood as a build option. If you played skyrim, you probably have seen the great housing mods. Imagine, presets for all those houses, you could place side by side creating your own mini city in a fairly short amount of time.

You're not going to like it, but "both" is the answer I'd like to give. I can be very finicky and have been known to spend entirely too much getting my trashy garbage shacks just right but sometimes... sometimes you're just trying to find your son who's been missing for a while and you've heard he got involved with a bad crowd so it's kind of urgent but your settlers won't stop complaining about the "bed situation" and you really just want to plop down some housing and go back to inserting cadavers inside Nick's skull. That's why I like Snappy Houses so much. It gives you the tools to build your house wall-by-wall, column by column, but it also gives you a nice selection of prefab parts that you can pop together in a jiffy, then come back and add more detail to later.

I love complex, but most of the items used end up being unseen by the player in the end, and they crank up the settlement size limit (even with mods that increase it tenfold), so I'm going to vote for simple, but not to the degree that it's basically the vanilla.

Probably not the best comparison, but Snap 'n' Build has a good balance, maybe something slightly more detailed/complex than that.

I personally love the system you've got now. The only reason I don't use it is I get frustrated easily with snap systems. I found it hard to build my way with how your system seems to snap but that is not a complaint. That is my lack of patience. The one thing that I would love to see (and maybe you have in there and something is preventing me from using it) is the ability to mesh it with houses built the easy way or old snap system. Maybe a piece or two that lets me use it to make a second floor or snap the large chunks over the top of it. However, I am only in favor of it becoming more complex because I love the detail you've put into it and I would hate to see the most unique overhaul of the housing system go away.

I will say this though, if you as the author is in favor of making it simpler for your own sanity and enjoyment then I say do so! I only say that because I find myself often influenced too much by outside opinion. It is your mod, you should enjoy it first and foremost I think.

  • 1 month later...

glass windows and glass wall please...

I want to build a settlement like this - https://www.instagram.com/p/BM3M8XQFMt0/?taken-by=amazing.architecture - and your mod is only hope

Stuyk offers some great work, but if he's not interested in adding glass, you could always use DDProductions mod with the glass build kit: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/16707/?
