Change a armor mesh with a workbench mod

G'day all.

Long story short I' m making a armor and want to implement something like metal chest piece upgrade mod under the armor workbench and when you craft the upgrade it adds a chest piece mesh over the base armor mesh. Or another example a leg ammo belt mod and it adds ammo belts on the leg.

My question is how do I do that?

1. Is the fully upgraded armor all one nif or is there a base armor nif, and all the upgrades are seperate ones?

2. What keywords to use? / clone? / modify?

3. What attach points to use?

4. Everything else that I can' t even imagine I needed to do or know.

 

I know how to make basic mods like a custom version of ballistic weave or stat buffs for example so I know what the procces of creating a simple one is.

Not a modder, but I think you have to put each item in different slots (Like 33=Body and 57=Free). Look at mods that have modular armor and see where they put there stuff (Fo4edit > Armor > Read the info).

 

I know what I'm saying doesn't completely answer your question and my answer is very vague, but I hope someone else can better help you
