klyve
Hi!...I'm in Mzulft Aedrome....on the quest for "Revealing the unseen"I thought I activated the machine with my crystal and my NPC makes me think so too.as I got the new quest for "focusing the oculary".My frost and flames spells don't seem to do anything and I don't know what to line up with the three button machine?Any idea of what I should do?....or what I'm not doing? Thanks
mayaslash
Ignore the three button machine for now. Shoot the (alternating) the frost and the fire spells at the oculary until the three beams are point each to one of the circles on the ceiling, then use the three buttons to move the circles so the targets on them align with the beams. If your fire and frost spells aren't affecting the oculary then try reloading an earlier save. If that doesn't work wither you'd have to finish the quest with the console. bpestilence
I couldn't figure it out at first, because my flame spell wasn't doing anything at all. Turns out, for me, I had to use the frostbite spell 3 times to get the correct focus. This talk of using frostbite and flames alternatively doesn't always seem to be the case. Anyway, once you get the beams into their lowest position, rotate the rings until they match. Then prepare to see proof that Vvardenfell didn't actually sink into the ocean.... I've done this quest four or five times now and everytime I've done it I've only ever had to cast frostbite to focus the the beams. Basically when the beams point at anything thats not a seam in between the rings, you're done. So tap cast frostbite until the beams move, and rinse and repeat until the beams land in the middle of the rings and your done. Go push buttons until they lock, and your done. PaladinRider
This quest didn't work for me at all. My spells had no affect whatsoever. I spent about 30 minutes in that room, shooting fire spells and frost spells at the crystals. I didn't see any affect. Eventually I kept clicking the buttons and the buttons would eventually go static when it was lined up properly (couldn't click the button anymore). I later watched my brother do the quest on his PS3, and the light effects worked properly - you could see the light rays that I couldn't on my PC. Side note: I originally had my graphics turned down low and I couldn't see the spiderwebs either - the ones that block the doorway and holds the guy where you get your first dragon claw. He was floating there.
bpestilence
There is a glitch where with certain video cards you cannot see the light rays. Also, the only spells that work are "flames" and "frostbite", the lowest-novice level spells. If you don't have them, books are there for the taking on the table. You also must hit the focusing crystal directly.
bushwackAR15
I've got this same problem, nothing I try can make the lens focus. I've tried flames & frostbite, just flames & just frostbite. Nothing worked for me. I even tried to shout at it :wallbash:
