dark knight detective
This was entirely my fault, but I need to know how to "fix" it to continue the game. First, I'm playing on a PC. What happened is, after playing through the game about 5 times before, I decided I wanted to try to keep the "Boots of Springheel Jack". So, after I got the Elder Scroll, I used the Command Console command to move out of the palace. The game didn't advance, and I can't get back into the library. So, what I need is either the Command Console code to put me back into the library, or the command to advance the quest to the next phase. I think either one would do, I'm just stuck where I am until I can use one of them. Thanks for any help you can give me!
LFact
If you want to keep the boots, just type 'tgm' when you're falling(of course, you should not equip the boots).... Well, to advance the quest, there's a console command called 'SetStage'. Of course, you should know the quest ID and stage to use this command. However, to use it, I still need to be able to return to the library, which I seem to be completely shut out of. I even tried going back through the sewers, but found the entry under the statue (where you use the arrow of extrication) locked, un-pickable, and unable to re-use the arrow. I don't have any saves between first getting the quest and when I left the library. If anyone can get the quest ID and the stage list for me, I would be in business. Otherwise, I need the command to COC on the library, or I'm going to have to give up adding Nocturnal's Cowl to my collection this time through. LFact
Quest information is here. Or, you can use Construction Set to get ID of every cells, items, quests, factions and more.

I still have to go try it - after I pour a cup of coffee.

I was able to use the "setstage" command to finish the quest, and have since moved on while retaining the useable "Boots of Springheel Jack". THANK YOU! Malchik
If you play it again you would probably find it easier to add the boots via the console. Also, I believe if your acrobatics is 100 the boots may not be destroyed.

It doesn't matter what you do, if you land at the bottom of the shoot with the boots on, they're destroyed. You could even make a 'staircase' out of paintbrushes, slowly work your way down falling only a foot or two at a time, but if you have the boots on, they still get destroyed. Malchik
I have played this quest about four times in all. Three times the boots were destroyed but the fourth not. I put it down to my acrobatics being 100% but perhaps it was something else entirely. There were no mods other than the official ones and the one I am testing but that wouldn't affect it. Must just have been one of those wierd glitches. I suppose it could have been that I had forgotten to put the boots on but surely in that case I would have been scripted to die? I have to say I wasn't expecting to have them after that section of the quest.

I've fallen and survived. To survive, you need very high acrobatics, preferably 100, and a lot of health. A strong fortify health spell/potion wouldn't hurt either.
